“Relaxing and Beautiful”

My family and I just recently stayed at L'Auberge this past weekend, and had such an amazing time. From the delicious breakfast, to the nightly drinks at the reception area, and of course cookies at turn down. Just amazing. The convenience to Ocean really made our lives easier because we didn’t have to jump into our car to have a day out on the town. The best part of the hotel has to be the staff. They are ALL are so accommodating and willing to go the extra mile to assist you. For such a small establishment, we never felt that we couldn’t find someone to service us. We will definitely be coming back for all of our future stays in the future.

“Enchanting Carmel”

We've stayed at this property twice and loved it both times. The breakfasts were great, the staff awesome and welcoming, and the restaurant outstanding for dinner. We had visted Napa and went to the French Laundry and I have to say that our meal at L'Auberge was almost as good....it was outstanding. Love that we could ask for an outdoor table for breakfast in the courtyard, and it was set up right on time with a white crisp tablecloth. Very memorable and looking forward to coming back for our 29th wedding anniversary .... See you then !

“Romantic and convenient for walking through Carmel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

From the moment we parked our car and were greeted by an attentive staff, our weekend at this Inn was terrific. We were upgraded to a "peek view King" which was good size and well appointed. Peek is the right word -- you really can't see the Ocean, but, we felt warm and private in room 9.

We chose L'Auberge so we could gallery walk and dine in Carmel. We did and it was perfect.
Yes, a bit pricey - but, no more so then other places in Big Sur and we liked visiting Big Sur and staying in Carmel.

We enjoyed dinner at the Inn Saturday night and the attention to the fact that it was our Anniversary was charming. The food was inventive - all twelve courses. None were what we might have ordered ourselves - but, there was an entertainment factor there that was well worth it and a two and a half hour dinner where afterwards all you had to do was walk upstairs, was definitely a plus.

Small flat screen TV -- but, who cares - we can watch television at home.

Only issue - heating was a little intense and hard to control. But, the heated floor in the bathroom was great.

Safe was on high shelf in closet making it pretty impossible for this 5'1' woman. Fortunately, my husband was there with extra inches.

Room Tip: Even street-side is quiet.

“The service makes the hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

The room was a bit dated. They may need a fresh coat of paint and nicer TV's. But the service is the best! I loved the cookies at night. Breakfast in bed rocked. As with all R&C properties they pimp the meal on you too hard. The food was over the top experimental and way too pricey. I felt like I was robbed. They made it sound like we could not find a good meal anywhere but inhouse. After a long week of driving we ate there instead of doing 5 minutes research.

Bottom line awesome place to stay and best service in cali! Just ignore them on the inhouse resturaunt unless you love to spend $200 a head on molecular gastronomy (aka froth).
