“Good Location, but LOUD”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

You would think that in Carmel, every place would be quiet - no so. If you are in a room on the downstairs floors, be warned - it is LOUD! You can hear everything above and beside you. That was a major drawback for us. We ended up leaving a day early b/c it was so unpleasant.

The room was fine, good size, and had a fireplace which was great. We saw a lot of leftover hairs in the bathroom, so that was a bit gross, so I"m not sure the maid was looking closely when she cleaned.

GREAT location for the town. And the front desk guy was very nice and they have tea and coffee too. And complimentary continental breakfast, which was very nice.

Overall, it was ok. The rates were in-line with the town, but was still way too high for the level of quality of the hotel.

“Wonderful Location- Great Rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

This place has almost everything you could want in a Carmel hotel:
1) Great location right on the edge of town but still away from lights & noise
2) Some of the rooms are huge, including L shaped sleeping alcoves and fireplaces
3) Some rooms have peeks of ocean from their balconies
4) Prices that stay very reasonable during High Season (and have been discovered by regulars to makes Lobos hard to book in busy times)
5) Breakfast delivered to your door when you specify, not on mgmt schedule
6) Nicely furnished and kept updated
my advice would be to try and stay away from rooms along Ocean Avenue- lots of foot traffic walking by and curious people wanting to look into your window can make you feel like a rabbit on display in a box; and if you're looking for amenities like fitness centers, restaurants, meeting rooms... this isn't the place for you

“Good location, need updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Stayed here (2nd time in last 5 years) 1 night in October 2011. Friendly folks at checkin but a room that could use some updating, particularly in the bathroom where the lighting was poor (several bulbs burnt out) and the amenities minimal. Furniture o.k. but rather dated and rather sparse for a large room. Suggest some decorating would help. Fairly standard as Carmel motels go with not much to make it very memorable.

Room Tip: If you're looking for quiet, request a room facing away from Ocean Avenue. No decaf coffee avai...

“what an amazing place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

The Lobos Lodge was amazing! Such a cute layout of the rooms, amazing room with its own sitting area/tv. balcony (if it was a little warmer). walk downtown to all the amazing stores and restaurants. to top it off, there was such a cute, well behaved dog in the lobby!

“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We only stayed one night here whilst driving up the coast to SF. Carmel by the sea is a beautiful little town with great shops and restaurants. Lobos lodge was perfect for us, we had a king room on the top floor with fireplace and balcony. The room was MASSIVE and had a nice seating area around the fire. I honestly do not understand how previous reviews can say the staff were rude as every member of staff we spoke to were very friendly and welcoming. The reception area even has free coffee, tea and biscuits. The only negative was the breakfast which was OK but only one danish for 2 people. But that is all I can fault. However carmel bakery has a great breakfast anyway so this didn't bother us!
