“Lovely weekend in sweet surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

This was my first visit to this B&B and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We took two rooms for the Thanksgiving weekend and found it very comfortable and charming. The dog was happy too!
The location couldn't be better and the staff were so friendly and accomodating. The best part is having breakfast brought to the room where it can be enjoyed at leisure. I will surely pplan a return trip.

“Charming, dog friendly, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

We are repeat guests at this quaint "walk to the beach" dog friendly B&B which makes me feel like I'm in England or Victoria, BC. A group of us Standard Poodle owners have an annual tradition of spending the first December weekend in Carmel. Cottage-like in look and feel, the rooms are charming, a "just right" sized breakfast is delivered promptly once your shade is pulled up accompanied by a dog biscuit for Dave the Dog, and there is a sunny common area for in the courtyard where we enjoy afternoon wine. I'm a hobby photographer so it's also easy for me to roll out of bed before sunrise and simply stroll 4 blocks down the road to catch the sun rise on the magnificent white sand beach while our dog checks out the morning scents. PS: the weather is typically spectacular in December.

Room Tip: Some rooms have fireplaces.

“Cozy, comfortable, and convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

We've stayed here several times, with and without our dogs. Consistently wonderful and relaxing. Close enough to walk to the beach, I enjoy falling asleep listening to the soft sound of waves crashing in the distance. Having breakfast (and COFFEE) brought to the room is a huge convenience for us, lets us lollygag around until we're ready to head out for the day's adventures. In the evening we walk into the village for dinner and to peruse the shops. A few minutes drive gets us to the Monterey Bay Aquarium or Pt. Lobos.

Room Tip: We like the queen room with the small gas fireplace (#1).

“Ruined our anniversary”

We decided to do a romantic get-away for my birthday with my wife. She found this place through trip adviser and we booked 2 nights for a weekend. We showed up on Friday and the place looked gorgeous from outside but inside everything was nasty.

I have attached some pictures so you can see what I'm talking about:

The shower was so filthy that I felt dirtier after coming out. The shower curtain had black mold on it and the show pan was covered with soap scum.

The floor was nasty and we truly dreaded going to bed thinking how the sheets / blankets were cleaned before our arrival.

I have stayed in Carmel numerous times at different bed and breakfast places but given its hefty price of $250 a night it was a total mess.

The lady that seemed in charge was also very rude and not friendly. We somehow ended that weekend by spending most of the time in the city and by the beach. The low light of the day was coming back to our room to hang out.

Unfortunately these guests visited at a time when we were experiencing a turnover in housekeeping staff. Had they notified us of their issues we would have immediately addressed them to their satisfaction, or moved them to different room or different lodging facility.
As for the floor, carpeting was professionally cleaned less than 60 days prior to these quests visit.
Bed linens in all rooms are changed over between guests and during a guests stay if requested.
We regret that these guests did not enjoy their visit.

“Great value, great staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011 via mobile

My boyfriend and I stayed in room 5. Although small, we found it very quaint and charming. It was very nicely decorated, clean and quiet. The courtyard is lovely, and the inn itself is within walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. Breakfast was brought to our room each morning; coffee, fruit, pastry and quiche (quiche was not our favorite). Terrific value for the money!
