We visited Cypress Inn for 5 nights. We had room 112, street level at the corner of the hotel and the intersection of 7th and Lincoln.

PROS:

Great staff, very helpful
super location in Carmel, can't be beat
free breakfast was very nice
discounted rate for January booking $392.00 night
charming old hotel with a lot of character
enjoyed the fresh fruit, peanuts and sherry in the room
bathroom was probably one of the largest in the hotel or close.

CONS:

Room was very loud, we could hear everything and every conversation outside.
The fireplace in the room was very nice but needed to vent a window to keep from
overheating and this meant hearing every bit of noise outside. But it does settle down
after 10PM but beware the street cleaner and garbage trucks early in the morning !!
Bathroom was a bit chilly, no way to heat it. (that we could figure out)
We started the stay with 2 bathrobes but they were never replaced throughout the week.
Bed was nice (king) but the quality of the sheeting could have been better.
No coffee maker in room but we knew that - just get dressed and go to the bar for it.
Bathtub needed new grout and a better shower head. (hard to wash long hair, low pressure)

I would stay here again but I would get a different room !!

This was my first time spending an overnight at The Cypress Inn in Carmel. Next time I'll bring my dog so she can enjoy it too. My room was small but very comfortable, also very clean so no signs of previous pet guests. Bed and linens were nice and comfortable. Also in the rooms is a complimentary decanter of sherry and glasses if you'd like a nightcap. My friends stay here every year and convinced me to join them. We had cocktails in the bar. Everyone but us three had dog companions but, since we are dog lovers, we conversed with everyone and admired their dogs. It's a very social place. A continental breakfast was included which had excellent coffee and delicious pastries. There is a luxurious room off the lobby that had a cheery fire going and an assortment of deep, comfortable sofas and chairs. Unfortunately, we were too busy shopping to enjoy this room, maybe next time.

We have stayed in many Hotels and guest houses on our many years of visiting Carmel. Cypress Inn will be the only hotel for us in the future. We had our dog on this visit and that is what prompted us to give it a try. Stayed for three nights in a first floor king suite. Ate all our meals in their restaurant, Terry's Lounge. Excellent food and prices. The complimentary continental breakfast was great. Included delicious fried potatoes, scrambled eggs and fresh hot popovers. Along with all the fruits, cereals, juices, pastries, etc. The front desk is manned by an exceptional person, Khamis Haji. He always has a friendly smile and is ready to help with any questions you might have. We will be back.

Had cocktails in the bar. Very nice w/ fireplace, comfy chairs & quiet. Very reasonable $7.00 for a margarita. Looking forward to spending a night and enjoying further. Pet friendly, very social - nice to see. Great location to all Carmel has to offer.
