Stayed here for three nights while attending a tennis tournament. Like most Red Roof Inns, the accommodations here are very basic, but the price is very reasonable. Hotel is in a convenient location near the I-5 freeway. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, including one that serves breakfast right across the street. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at the Red Roof Inn of Carlsbad on July 21st through 25th. Enjoyed our stay, the rooms were on the small side but were very clean. The bathroom was part of the room, with the exception of the shower and toilet, and was clean as well. The hotel is conveniently located on the North side of the I5 and is very convenient to San Diego as well as the Carlsbad beaches and town center. The only problem that we encountered was the key cards continually did not work, each night of our stay we had to go to the front office so that they could be re-coded. Fortunately our room was only a slight walk from the front office so it was really not that big of a deal. This is definitely a "no frills" motel so if you're expecting something fancy you will be disappointed. If you go in with an open mind and only need a clean room to rest at night then this could be the place for you. I would definitely stay at this RR again.

Stayed here one night after a full day at Legoland. The hotel is real easy access to legoland, and is clean and comfortable. The bathroom is really small, but was clean. They have a small pool, but we checked in too late to enjoy it.

I stayed at this property six months or so ago, when it was a Motel 6 and cost $42.99 a night. They were doing some construction at the time.

Last week I was returning to Carlsbad and found a listing for a "new" Red Roof Inn. It turned out to be the same Motel 6. The entire property has been renovated. The rooms have been completely redone and they are brighter. They are still small and very basic, but now cost $62.99 a night.

As another reviewer mentioned, be sure to bring your shampoo and, I might add, your soda or juice and cooler, since the vending machines seem to be on the way out.
