“GREAT Resort! Great for kids!!”

We arrived January 15, 2012. and had read other reviews reporting negatively. Well, we totally have to side with those who were POSITIVE. My family and I LOVED this place.

We traded our timeshare week and locked in on a two-bedroom. The accommodations were spotless. The rooms were excellent sized - especially the HUGE living room area. The pots, utensils, stove were very clean.

Despite others talking about thin walls, we heard nothing. Some complained about the staff... they were extremely friendly, helpful, professional. The property was very nicely manicured. We had a playground for the kids right outside of our room; I even saw workers sweeping it off.

Though January is chilly, it doesn't affect kids wanting to swim... the pool was great. There is also an adult only pool outside of the main entrance.

The five minute walk to Legoland was PERFECT. Not sure why anyone would want to drive. I suppose if you have medical conditions, you could request to be dropped off.

We obviously sat thru another timeshare presentation, this one for property closer to the water for HILTON. Although tempting, it was NOT high pressured at all. If you've been to them before, of course they start out with a ridiculous high price and then make changes based on your needs/wants... be even the last ditch attempt, there was no 'laying it on'. The folks were very professional.

We also drove to La Jolla for the day; toured the USS MIDWAY; San Diego Old Town; San Diego Zoo; beaches at Carlsbad. It really is a great place for anyone as there is so much to do for couples, kids, singles... and this resort it central to all of it. NOTHING but 5 stars from us!

Room Tip: If you have kids, there is a play ground and perhaps you may want to ask to be there. There is al...

“Magnificent View to the Pacific Ocean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Stayed here for a business meeting - the meeting room was great! Location is near I-5, the beaches, shopping, etc. There is a Karl Strauss Brewery next door.
The staff was very cheerful and helpful and the lobby very large and open. The rooms in the hotel were good but noise carries. New TV and in-room coffee makers were convenient. The pool was quite spectacular and large - and not very croweded in January.
The only cons were that you pretty much had to do or go anywhere via car - not really conducive to much walking anywhere out the hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 3rd floor if possible and not facing the entry drive up way.

“Helpful staff, convenient location”

I stayed here while traveling on military orders. I had previously stayed down the street at the Carlsbad Seapoint Resort which is run by the same company. Both times my experience was great and the staff was accommodating, especially one of their managers named Amanda. I would definitely recommend the place for families or for others traveling on lengthy military orders.

“Director of Guest Services customer service was outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We have been travelling for almost 3 months and this part of the trip is at the tail end of the trip. We wanted to relax in this resort before going back home and the last thing we need is to be place in a room in close proximity to any noise. We have made this request but unfortunately, not catered for at the time of booking. We were situated on the ground floor and close to the childrens pool (got a bit noisy from banging , footsteps and children genuinely enjoying their time in the resort). Naturally, the push for us to request another room. The Director of Guest Services -Ms. Amanda Dolan heard our request. She listened and acted promptly and got her team to offer us a more suitable room as soon as it was vacated. Ms. Juvy -Director of housekeeping personally showed us 2 rooms (Ms. Dolan chose for us) to choose from. This is "customer service" we are not surprise why these ladies got their job! They are very deserving to be in their position and this resort rank great in our view because of them. Location - good ; we were able to use the shuttle service (again thanks, Amanda!) to take us to the village and outlet stores and restaurants.; We appreciate the personal touch and the genuine service exhibited by all staff starting with Amanda- given us a list of her favorite restaurants in the area . The timeshare presentation team.
Room Comfort: great!

“Great Place to Stay for Legoland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We stayed in a two bedroom condo the week after Thanksgiving 2011. We attended Legoland on a Thursday and there were only 2,000 people at the park which was our goal...no crowds. This hotel turned out to be a great choice. We drove in from another state and packed a cooler with breakfasts and dinners. The condo was huge with a full kitchen, pantry, and dinning room. The bathrooms were huge. The color scheme needs updating and the the beds were hard as a rock, but everything else was perfect. There is a wonderful playground on site. Beautiful views of the pacific (not from our room). Underground parking. There is a Costco across from the hotel (cheap gas) and a Trader Joe's about 4 miles away. By packing our meals we more than made up for the extra cost of having the condo and it was worth it to be able to put our son to bed and we could stay up. The only thing the kitchen lacked that I forgot to bring was some cooking spay for omlettes, etc.

They claim to have a private entrance to Legoland. That amounted to J-walking across the street and entering the Legoland parking lot through an opening in the chainlink fence. The route is not marked, so we had to ask exactly where to go. It was about an 8-minute walk which seems a lot longer on the way back with a three-year-old on your shoulders. There is an outlet mall you can see from parts of the hotel, but we did not have time to go.

The hotel did offer us Legoland tickets if we sat through a timeshare presentation. (we declined) We ate once at the Karl Strauss Brewery that is on-site for dinner. It is really loud so it was fine to bring kids. It was a weeknight so it was mostly professionals there coming directly from work. The cost of the food was reasonable and good (order anything with the firecracker sauce and you will be happy). The breakfast buffet was around $13 for adults and slightly cheaper for kids so we were really glad that we brought our own breakfast fixings with us.

The grounds and ammenities were beautiful. There is also an onsite arcade so they cater to kids of all ages. We would absolutely stay her again for a Legoland trip.

Room Tip: Our balcony overlooked the parking garage entrance so consider this when asking for a room if you pl...
