We stayed in a two bedroom condo the week after Thanksgiving 2011. We attended Legoland on a Thursday and there were only 2,000 people at the park which was our goal...no crowds. This hotel turned out to be a great choice. We drove in from another state and packed a cooler with breakfasts and dinners. The condo was huge with a full kitchen, pantry, and dinning room. The bathrooms were huge. The color scheme needs updating and the the beds were hard as a rock, but everything else was perfect. There is a wonderful playground on site. Beautiful views of the pacific (not from our room). Underground parking. There is a Costco across from the hotel (cheap gas) and a Trader Joe's about 4 miles away. By packing our meals we more than made up for the extra cost of having the condo and it was worth it to be able to put our son to bed and we could stay up. The only thing the kitchen lacked that I forgot to bring was some cooking spay for omlettes, etc.
They claim to have a private entrance to Legoland. That amounted to J-walking across the street and entering the Legoland parking lot through an opening in the chainlink fence. The route is not marked, so we had to ask exactly where to go. It was about an 8-minute walk which seems a lot longer on the way back with a three-year-old on your shoulders. There is an outlet mall you can see from parts of the hotel, but we did not have time to go.
The hotel did offer us Legoland tickets if we sat through a timeshare presentation. (we declined) We ate once at the Karl Strauss Brewery that is on-site for dinner. It is really loud so it was fine to bring kids. It was a weeknight so it was mostly professionals there coming directly from work. The cost of the food was reasonable and good (order anything with the firecracker sauce and you will be happy). The breakfast buffet was around $13 for adults and slightly cheaper for kids so we were really glad that we brought our own breakfast fixings with us.
The grounds and ammenities were beautiful. There is also an onsite arcade so they cater to kids of all ages. We would absolutely stay her again for a Legoland trip.
