Excellent place, very neat & clean, friendly staff, decent breakfast, great location for Legoland visitors. They have a courtesy shuttle to Legoland. Nice setting, free parking. Kids enjoyed the complimentary hot chocolate and cookies in the evening. We got it on a Groupon deal so it was really economical as well. All in all, couldn't have asked for anything different. Will certainly stay here again if I am in the area.

I stay here for business quite often. It is a beautiful, quiet hotel and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The free breakfast is decent. My only wish is that it were closer to town and/or the beach and that they had a better equipped gym.

Every year, a few longtime friends and I gather for a little "staycation" if you will, as we are all local San Diegans. We typically stay at Four Seasons, the Westgate, or The Grand Del Mar. This year we decided to try something completely different. Something smaller with more of a boutique feel. We chose The West Inn and Suites, as it was #1 on trip advisor, and referred to us by a few friends who mentioned the Steakhouse is also fantastic. Well what A PLEASANT SURPRISE! The West has a friendly, warm, and attentive front desk team, and even the housekeeping staff would always extend a kind word and warm smile if passed in the hall. The rooms are very spacious and all beds in the hotel are California Kings! So us girls felt like we were really living in luxury. There is also a complimentary breakfast served every morning, and a complimentary "wine pour" on weekdays! The nice lady at the front desk even put champagne in our room to enjoy while we were getting ready before dinner! SO GREAT! It was everything we could have wanted and more: Quality, Value, Warmth, and Class. Thank you to The West staff for making our annual get-together a ball. We will definately be back!!!!!

We were searching for a luxury hotel that would also accommodate a 10 year old birthday party trip at LegoLand for our son, but seriously thought we would have to lower our ammemity and customer service expectations. After all, this was supposed to be a "kids trip". Well...to our pleasant surprise nothing was compromised on either the adults needs or the children's. The management have successfully trained the staff very well at this property. And balance both clientele very well. The Free shuttle to LegoLand was so nice. Only 5 minutes. The drivers were friendly and sincerely wanted to do a good job. The front desk staff were friendly, warm, greeted us with good eye contact and smiles each time we walked through the lobby. Breakfast buffet was a nice plus. Especially with children. Our favorite part of the trip (besides the wonderful down bedding) is that we could just walk next door and eat at the West Bistro. Great food that even had a Kid menu. My only recommendation is the hostess could be friendlier and welcome guests with a smile. We ate there 2 Nights In a row and were told to wait in lobby even though there were plenty of available tables. The wait staff is well trained, experienced, and confident. Decent bistro food/well priced.

Oh, and let's not forget the cookies and milk served I'm Lobby each night. It was the boy's favorite night-time activity.
