I just started a new job that will require me to travel and I really hate hotels for the exhorbitant prices they charge for a bed, bathroom and television. But the Extended Stay America Hotels are like staying in a studio apartment with a frig, microwave, and stove top.
I was greeted immediately by the receptionist, quickly checked-in and given information needed to make my stay a pleasant one. I forgot my hair dryer but a quick call to the front desk determined they had one I could come and get. I picked up extra coffee and creamer while there. They also had a basket on the counter with extra bars of soap, toothbrushes, etc. for guests.
You will need to bring your own toiletries which is cool since I like my stuff best anyway and can rarely get enough conditioner out of one of those tiny bottles to make it worth my while anyway.
The fee for wifi was $4.99 for the entire stay, not an outrageous $9.99 per day charged by Hilton. Parking is free, unlike the $14.00 per day charged by Hilton. There is a heated swimming pool but the hotel is 10 walkable blocks from the ocean, through quaint Carlsbad Village.
I plan on staying at Extended Stay America Hotels whenever possible and highly recommend the one in Carlsbad.
Oh, and one of my favorite things is that the windows open! You can actually get fresh air into your room; what a concept.
