Ultimately, this will be very nice but at this point it is a motel with very nice rooms. No amenities of a resort. You can use the Sheraton next door but it is up the hill. Our room was over Legoland and was incredibly noisy. We could not use the deck while the park was open.

We were in 51 on 3rd floor overlooking Legoland. They were running the roller coaster empty during the night for testing and we heard the noise through closed windows. We were dispensed one facial bar of soap and one roll of toilet paper. 2 days after arrival a soap dish appeared, then another bar of soap the following day. We ran out of toilet paper and it took over a day to get another roll, really. Need to get their act together.

“Hilton does not deliver on promises”

We visited this place in November and received a $200 hilton hotel stay voucher for doing the Hilton time share presentation. While I have no issues with the facility itself, I was very disappointed that after we stayed in a Hilton Hotel, filled out the paperwork to get reimbursed, we received a card in the mail stating that we could not be reimbursed because we did not stay in a Hilton Hotel. We did stay in a Hilton Hotel, and I even verified before travel with a Deborah at Hilton Grand Vacations Company that the hotel was legitimate but still no refund. If you have one of these certificates, make sure to get in writing what specific hotels you can actually stay at. Make copies of all of your stuff before sending in. Another person has written the same thing on this site. I wonder if the company denies all claims as a procedure.

“Legoland trip with family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We booked into this hotel for a 7 night stay in September 2011. We had a usual Hilton top notch room and the staff were very accommodating. It is literally across the street from Legoland in Carlsbad, California. There is a short walk across the street and you end up at the back end of Legoland entrance, which means not too many people waiting in lines as they use the other entrance. I highly recommend Legoland for toddlers up to teens. My children had a blast.
After checking out the pool area and the grounds of Hilton Palisades Resort I noticed that they had a timeshare presentation going on everyday. I went up to the desk and asked, yes, I know, I asked for a presentation. They scheduled hubby and I the next day and said our children could go to the kids club while were attending the presentation. So hubby reluctantly came with me and we had a lovely timeshare rep named Olivia. She was wonderful not pushy and very conversational. We toured the one bedroom and the two bedroom which had just recently been upgraded to Hilton standards. Absolutely beautiful. Hilton is in the process of building Phase two across the street closer to Legoland and it will have a spa and more pools, tennis courts etc.. After spending time and looking at the blueprints of Phase Two my hubby and I bought a week but we wanted two weeks and a two bedroom. Unfortunately they did not have two weeks in one calendar year so we booked an odd and an even year. Because of Hilton Vacation Club not having what we wanted they also gave us Bonus Points to be used at any property or RCI, Cruise, Rv whichever we chose. The people that own here are very nice and friendly. We just booked to go back to Hilton Grand Vacations Club at MarBrisa for Spring Break April 2012 and when we booked they didn't have a two bedroom available so we are staying in a 3 bedroom plus. We are so excited to be going back. You are not on the beach at this Vacation Club but the sunset views over the water sitting having a cocktail from your front porch more than makes up for that fact. We are anxiously awaiting to go to one of the firepits they have set up outside and making smores with the kids. Something we saw other families doing but we just never made it over there. The fitness centre is very clean and spacious and the adult pool is quiet and children are allowed in there but not at night as the adults like to have quiet time. The Children's pool is large and they have a spray park next to it where the kids had a blast. Legoland now has a waterpark made out of lego and our kids loved being there during the day and the pool at the resort at night. I highly recommend this Vacation Club. The restaurant on site is very good and the children loved making waffles at the buffet breakfast during the mornings. The Sheraton is next door and you can use their spa and eat over there if you wish. Why would you? Downtown Carlsbad has some amazing resaurants that cater to children. The beaches are great and the people in Carlsbad are fantastic. Costco is down the road and across the street and the premium outlets are less than 2 miles away. It will be lovely to sit on our porch and see the fantastic Carlsbad Flowers in Bloom this time we are there as we are both avid gardeners and in September they had already bloomed. I highly recommend this Hilton Vacation Club at MarBrisa.

Room Tip: There are no elevators so if you have mobility issues ask for a ground floor when you book.

“Pros and Cons of this resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

As an HGVC Owner in another location we are happy there is a property in Souther CA. There are things that are good about this hotel and things that are substandard.
First the pros: Rooms are well appointed and very clean. The staff is very attentive and when we called for things they were brought over immediately. The staff is friendly and seem to be working constantly to provide good service. The location is convenient to I5 and Legoland and the Factory Stores. The beach is an easy drive as are the beach towns up and down PCH.
Cons: There are no elevators. Unless you stay on floor two you much climb stairs. (we asked for assistance and they provided a maintenance person to help us) There are no washers and dryers on each unit, but a laundry room in each villa. They are free, but again, you much climb stairs unless you are on floor two.
Parking is not adequate if you are staying in the lower villas - we were in 51, I think. We had to park on curbs if we came in late. The rooms that are sold as ocean view do have a peek of the ocean in the distance. Unfortunately, to see that ocean view you much look over all the back lot at Legoland which means maintenance, trash bins, etc. That's not very attractive. The upper villas look out at a parking lot to golf club.
The pool area is ok, nothing special and certainly now worthy of being called a resort. Check in has limited parking the there is no real lobby area - just a condo that has been converted into a check in area.

All and all, it's an ok place to stay. I certainly would not put in on the same scale as other HGVC resorts. Don't go there expecting a beach resort, or even a resort nearly as well put together as the Grand Pacific which is a stone's thow away.

I think in time things will get better. It is my understanding that future units may have elevators and washer and dryers. I can't imagine building timeshares in the shadow of an amusement park which will obviously cater to families that is set in such an un-family friendly fashion. Other than offering a kitchen, it's not any better (and maybe worse) than staying in a full service hotel.

Room Tip: Depends on what you are looking for. Villa 51 has a peek of the ocean and Legoland, but is a long w...
