The motel is quite small, but gorgeous in an old-style way (architecture). The staff was friendly & helpful. The walk to the beach was a pedestrian crossing over the highway (Hwy 1), just steps away. Once on the beach, there was unobstructed walking all the way south to San Clemente (about 5 miles). 3 restaurants & a sports bar were w/in a block. I had an ocean view room, which was well worth the price differential to view the spectacular sunset from either the balcony or inside from the sofa. The sunsets rivaled Maui. There is no swimming pool, but there is a roomy whirlpool/spa w/an ocean view.

More of a suite than a hotel room - had a large living room with balcony facing the ocean. Also bathroom was large and a nice size bedroom. All rooms have a balcony facing the ocean. Have stayed here before. The first time we were on the ground floor, and this time we were on the second floor which had a better view of the ocean. The price is significantly better after summer and on a weeknight. We were there on a Thursday night, and there were only one or two other rooms that were occupied, but the desk clerk said that they were full for the weekend starting on Friday night. Ate on the Pier in San Clemente, and the food was excellent - homemade French bread! And San Clemente is just down the road.

I only read 1 comment where a traveler stated that the train made some noise, and might be a challenge for light sleepers. That is the understatement of the year!!! I stayed for 2 nights. The train comes by hourly, at least until midnight, and is only 200 feet from the front of the property. Holy Cow, that horn was loud. I was on the phone in my room with my wife, who could not hear me over the horn. Drunk sailors would not be able to sleep with that ruckus. I should know. Avoid completely.

I stayed here one night and I'll go back. The dark haired lady at the front desk was very attentive and accomodating with lots of personality. The room was a little on the small side but you're right across the street from the beach, get over it! Breakfast was good. Overall a two thumbs up experience.
