“Great location”

Cambria is expensive if you want a beachside location - compared to other hotels the price was good. Adequate cold breakfast and pleasant rooms with little road noise. Our trip was made magic by seeing elephant seals nearby with their new born pups. I gather the hotel has recently re-opened under new owner.

“good hotel”

A week after the New Year was a slow week in Cambria, so there were not too many tourists in the city in general or at this particular property.
We had a 2-queen beds room on the first floor. The room was amazingly clean. I mean, super-clean. Nice towels, soaps, shampoo etc. There is a mini-fridge (which is very handy when travelling with small kids) and a coffee-maker in a room. The room itself was rather small, but we did not stay indoors much. There were plenty of extra pillows and blankets. The mattresses were rather on a hard side, which did not work out for me - I had a backpain in the morning. There is no heater or AC in the room, but there is a heater in the shower: we had to turn it on to heat up a room a bit in the evening, as it gets really cold during winter-time.
The breakfast, which is served in a <breakfast room> consists of prepacked 4 kinds of cereals, fresh fruits (apples, bananas, oranges), muffins/scones/, coffee, tea, orange juice/milk. You can either eat it right there or take it with you to the room on a tray.

The hotel is conveniently located at Moonstone Beach at the <hotel row>. It's right across the stairs that lead to the tidepool (when there is a low tide).

Anyway, we had a great time here in January, during the low, slow season.

We booked this hotel in the morning over the phone after reading the reviews in trip advisior and were very pleased with our choice on arrival in the afternoon. A lovely clean hoteln with magnificient ocean views and the beach across the road to watch sunset. A lovely couple greeted us on arrival and made us feel welcome. The room was nice and roomy with free wi-fi, fridge,tv and coffee make. Breakfast was scones and muffins and coffee available and was a good value for money hotel, with a pool

“A Little Gem”

We have been coming here for at least 20 years, it's not fancy but it's extremely clean, has an excellent location, and is a great value. It's a pleasure to return to every year!

Room Tip: Ocean view on almost all the rooms.

“Beautiful View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

Castle Inn in an older two story motel directly across from the beach. The hosts are a lovely older couple.

The rooms are clean and neat. We have stayed twice and both times have had a bathroom with just a large shower

Our door lock broke our first night and after many attempts at opening, a locksmith replaced it while we went to the Moonstone Grill (a short walk) for dinner.

Coffee, juice, scones and muffins are available in the office after 7:00 a.m.

It costs twice as much to stay at a beachfront motel rather than one in town, but it's so nice to walk directly to the beach and back to the room without dragging sand all over.

Leaving the windows open at night is a treat. Listening to the waves puts one right to sleep.
