“Welcomed to a home away from home, treated as personal guests not customers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

Jim and Jan, owners of this B & B run a beautiful establishment. We had the upstairs suite that had room for three guests and our own spacious private bathroom. On the landing outside the room was a guest library, comfortable couches, and a computer for guests' use. There were two additional guest room downstairs and a nice common room where we had breakfast. Jan made delicious breakfasts for us each morning and never the same thing. in the evening she served some light finger food and wine. A small frig held soda for our use. This is a newly built house with spacious grounds, two dogs (Chandler loves attention) and chickens running around the house. We had their fresh eggs for breakfast! Within walking distance to town and all the restaurants and shops, but you are looking at fields and mountains for the front porch (with a swing) view. We were visiting the Hearst Castle in San Simeon and this was about 10 minutes away by car. Jim and Jan are gracious and welcoming, making this B & B very inviting. My wife is more of a B & B person than I am, having had some less than wonderful experiences, and I would without hesitation go back to Fog's End.

“Everything Works!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

Joe and Jan have created a modern, super comfortable masterpiece. No creaky floors. No noisy pipes. No bathrooms down the hall. No random drafts. Or overgrown vines. Just a beautiful, comfortable, very functional, well-tended and appropriately private home for us to share. Quite an accomplishment. It is even nicer because Jan is such a great cook.

“a perfect end to the holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2009

At the end of our 2 week stay in California, we stayed in Fog's End. What a delight! We were given a warm, gracious welcome, spoilt with a beautiful bedroom, wine and cheese and the suggestion of restaurants for our evening meal. To top this we has a sumptious breakfast before setting off for our drive to LA airport

“Fog's End is charming in every way.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2009

After a wonderful drive up the coast from Ventura, we arrived in Cambria and as scheduled checked in to Fog's End B & B. Our innkeepers Jim and Jan were very welcoming and friendly and over wine and homemade appetizers we visited with them and with the other couple who were guests that evening. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and they, their first.

Fog's End is charming in every way. The rooms are spacious and well appointed--wood floors, high ceilings, windows that look out on the countryside, tasteful furnishings and beautiful artwork. We chose our room because of the deep soaking claw-footed tub in the adjoining bathroom, ahh!

Fog's End is on the quiet end of Cambria, but a quick stroll to the shops and restaurants, so for dinner we left the car behind. After a very peaceful night, we had a marvelous breakfast, which included scrumptious baked goods from a bakery in town. As an added plus, several deer wandered past. We were sorry we had only the one night and look forward to a return visit.

Jim has lots of good suggestions about where to dine, and he kept the link open to the reservations at Hearst Castle (our destination after checking out) so we knew what tour to aim for. Thoughtful touches like these made staying there a joy.

We think Fog's End ought to be rated first in Cambria for both charm and value. It really is a special place with its welcoming broad porches and delightful rooms, and especially, Jan and Jim.

“perfection - nothing could make it better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2009

Unfortunately we were passing through Canbria after visiting Hearst Castle on our way to Santa Monica so we only got one night at Fogs End - would have loved to stay longer. Jim and Jan were so friendly and helpful managing to book us a B and B for later in our trip which turned out to be fantastic too. The room and bathroom was spotless as was their lovely house and the breakfast superb. We booked this accomodation after consulting trip advisor and were thrilled to find it exceeded our expectations. We would definitely return if we visit California iin the future
