This motel sits right across the street from Moonstone Beach. Our room (and I think every room) had at least a partial view of the beach. The closer to the front of the motel and being on the second floor provides a better view (the motel is perpendicular to the beach). Our room was closer to the back but on the upper level, so we still had a view of the beach. Our room was very large (two comfy queen beds), a small round table with chairs where you could sit down, chat and eat. It had a huge, marble tile bathroom and gas fireplace that served as our heater. We also had a small refrigerator, microwave and a coffee maker in the room. This motel is only two stories high and our room (on the second floor) was great. There are no elevators only stairs (but you can get to the second level by entering through the motel lobby if stairs are a problem). Upon arrival at about 4:30 p.m., the motel receptionist was very gracious and invited us to partake of some nice afternoon snacks set out in the lobby area (hummus/other dips, veggies, crackers, cheese, sparkling apple cider, etc.) which was unexpected and a friendly welcome after a long drive from Los Angeles. Downtown Cambria is only a short drive (1-2 miles away) from the motel and has a variety of small shops and restaurant options. We took a nice long walk that evening along the beach looking for the moonstone rocks this beach is famous for (alas we didn't find any - but it was fun looking). The walk and views of the beach were spectacular. The motel also let us borrow two videos that night to watch movies in our room (great distraction for the teen traveling with us). In the morning, the motel served a nice complimentary, continental breakfast with a variety of pastries, bagels, toast, cereals, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc. which was a perfect size before we headed out to Heast Castle. The Castle is only about 5 minutes away. So we were able to get there in plenty of time for the first tour the next morning. I stongly advise making tour reservations if you are headed to Heast Castle. I did it at the last minute from the car on the drive up from LA the day before we visited. I was super glad I did since when we got there (on a Sunday), the place was packed. Had I not done that, we may not have gotten the tour and the time we wanted. As it was, we were only able to do one tour (the Grand Rooms) and had to forego the second floor tour since it was sold out. I would highly recommend this motel and plan to stay here again myself if/when visiting Heast Castle again
