I have stayed at Whispering Pines on several occasions. It's in a gorgeous location and incredibly peaceful. Hearst Castle is nearby, as are many wineries, the ocean, and gorgeous hiking trails. (Not to mention the quaint town of Cambria, that boasts many fine restaurants and art galleries.) If you are lucky, you will see some of the local wildlife, including deer, wild turkeys, quails, bobcats, etc.

Sandy and Jack are very hospitable, and will gladly make recommendations about your stay. Since there is so much to do in the area, if you're unsure about your trip, you should ask them for tips. Whispering Pines is a fantastic retreat, and I love to end the evening in the jacuzzi, steps from my quarters. I always have a wonderfully relaxing time here, and look forward to my next visit.

Jack and Sandy made us feel very welcome this was our first stop on our holiday and we stayed 2 nights, The accommodation was spotless and had everything you could want, Sitting in the hot tub watching the stars was a highlight. Jack is a superb cook and breakfast in the garden watching the animals was lovely the
Eat at Sows Ear in cambria you may need to book but it was great.
We saw deer and the garden had a variety of birds and wildlife
All in all a peaceful beautiful place with all the privacy you need.
I would recommend Whispering Pines and its lovely hosts to everyone, a great place to explore this part of the coast and to drive Highway 1.

My husband and I recently visited Whispering Pines for our first ever get-away without our 18 month old son and it was a great experience. The suite was very clean and looked pretty much like the pictures on their website. The best part about Whispering Pines: the waterfall, the jacuzzi (it's extra hot!), the privacy, the cleanliness, the sheets on the bed, delicious breakfast, quiet, and close to nature. Worst part about it: small TV, small couch...that's it! We drove by all the hotels on Moonstone Drive...cookie cutters all of them. The Band B's in downtown looked beautiful and cozy, but confined and small. Whispering Pines offers seclusion, relaxation, and the feeling of being in your own "place" while away from home.

We had a lovely relaxing couple of days here, on our way across from San Francisco to Las Vegas. The suite of rooms was far nicer than I'd expected, and very spacious and clean. W only met Jack, our host, who was extremely pleasant and welcoming. His breakfasts on both days were lovely, and very filling! There was everything you could wish for or need durung our stay. We saw deer, lovely birds etc. The only complaint, which was beyond our host, was the cloudy and cold weather - but that's the coast for you! I'd go back again tomorrow.
