“Serene and so much to see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Whispering Pines in Cambria is the perfect location to stay while experiencing so much the central coast has to offer. There is Hearst Castle, the Elephant Seals and the wonderful Wineries on Hwy 46. A day of wondering the shops in town is a must. After a busy day seeing the sights, the accommodations at Whispering Pines are very relaxing, with a lovely spa and waterfall and a great night's sleep in the loft bedroom. The breakfasts are delicious and the hosts go the extra mile to provide a delightful stay.

“disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I was very disappointed. We paid enough to get a good quality and we did not. The lighting, privacy (blinds don't close fully) and there is room in the living area connected to the owner's living area, awfully small TV, and many instructions as to what you can do and what not to do are turn offs.
Did not like cleanliness from looking the hostess as we arrived and was not sure about the towels. Blue towels don't bleach !! Not much to write good about it. Hated the breakfast.

Room Tip: Choose a place where they have more than one tenant. These people make one kind of breakfast for you...

“Clean Relaxing Machine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2009

From the temperature of the room to the waterfall by the hot tub to the breakfasts served, this operation is totally climate-controlled.

If you want a sure-fire relaxing time, this is it!

Just remember to color beteeen the lines and smooth sailing.

“Great value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2009

The other reviewers are spot on -- this place is exactly as advertised. The suite is super clean and spacious, breakfasts are very tasty and plentiful, the hot tub really is secluded with a waterfall nearby.

Cambria (pronounced with a short a, as in Camelot) is a quaint little town with lots of places to eat. The Black Cat was the best restaurant we tried. The highlights of our trip was the visit to Hearst Castle, only 6 miles north on Hwy 1. The castle is pricey but worth it. Watching cute harbor seals and dive bombing pelicans on the San Simeon pier was also great. And then we went "home" and spent an hour in the hot tub before going out for dinner. Perfect!

“Gorgeous, peaceful setting, with myriad day/evening options.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

I have stayed at Whispering Pines on several occasions. It's in a gorgeous location and incredibly peaceful. Hearst Castle is nearby, as are many wineries, the ocean, and gorgeous hiking trails. (Not to mention the quaint town of Cambria, that boasts many fine restaurants and art galleries.) If you are lucky, you will see some of the local wildlife, including deer, wild turkeys, quails, bobcats, etc.

Sandy and Jack are very hospitable, and will gladly make recommendations about your stay. Since there is so much to do in the area, if you're unsure about your trip, you should ask them for tips. Whispering Pines is a fantastic retreat, and I love to end the evening in the jacuzzi, steps from my quarters. I always have a wonderfully relaxing time here, and look forward to my next visit.
