“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2007

Scarlett is wonderful, the rooms are comfortable and the place is quaint. I visited this B&B with four other girls for a Bachelorette weekend and we stayed in Camelia & Gamay. After a afternoon of wine tasting we hung out by the pool nestled behind the house. It was beautiful. Scarlett brought us some snacks and waters. Upon checkout Scarlett made us a homemade breakfast with french toast and sausage. The B&B is convenently located and peaceful especially at night.

Other reviewers have mentioned the dogs. Yes, there are a lot of dogs but they are friendly. If you don't like dogs just ask her to put them away. It is that simple! This place would be great for a family or couples looking to have a peaceful vacation.

“Comfortable B & B, but you better love dogs!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2007

The location is convenient and the owner is very nice. There room was very clean but don't expect luxury accomodations. We love dogs so we were not bothered by the dogs on the property and contrary to prior reviews, the Arrowhead room did not smell of "wet dogs."

Very comfortable bed and property was close to everything. Right for the price!

“Rustic Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2007

Very Friendly staff. Loved the manager. Stayed in the Gamay Suite. It was a bit rustic. Didn't really care for the dogs in the house while eating breakfast.

“Loved It! Will stay at Scarlett's again.”

My husband and I took our 1 1/2 year old daughter to stay at Scarlett's Country Inn and we are regretting that we only spent one night here. We stayed on a Sunday, so only 2 out of the 3 rooms were booked. After reviewing the room information on the website, we decided to stay in the Camellia Suite. It was perfect and spacious, with a microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker.
Scarlett greeted us as soon as we pulled up and even though we were an hour early for check in, she showed let the maids know that we were there and they quickly finished cleaning the Suite and we were able to settle in right away.
The previous reviewer made a comment about how many dogs are on the property and I can confirm that there were 4 dogs. Our family (especially our daughter) LOVES dogs, so this was a definite plus for us. While we were there we didn't see the dogs unless we went to the main house and there were all very friendly. Our daughter loved the aviary, trampoline and swing on the property as well.
Since the inn is located off of a private drive, it was very quiet at night and we all got a good rest. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful with fresh fruit, huge sausages, fresh squeezed orange juice and thick french toast. Scarlett had a special place set for our daughter, with high chair and children's dishware.
My husband is one who does NOT care for B&Bs, he's the outdoorsman type, so I was so happy to hear that he loved this place and has been recommending it to all of his friends.
We will be staying here again for sure!

“Very disappointing place and breakfast, beware of DOGS”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2006

We were very disappointed by this B&B, especially after reading the other reviews.
Our main complaints were
1) There are many (4-5?) dogs on the properties. We happen to not be very fond of dogs, and we believe that they should have warned us when we called. The dogs were not dangerous.
2) Because of the dogs, the room we had (arrowhead) had a terrible stink of "wet dog hair". You get used to it, but when you enter it really hits you, and you'd rather not spend time inside.
3) The 2nd B, breakfast was a scam, not very different from a motel6: when we arrived at 6pm, they showed us (all in the room) a basket with bakery (muffins...) and some fruit, pointed to an coffee machine like you see in motels and that was it. The bakery wasn't very fresh the next morning so we decided to just head to a local coffee place in Calistoga. Nothing like the nice breakfasts you get in most B&B.
4) The swimming pool didn't feel very inviting, not that we wanted to swim, but again, it was more motel6 then Auberge du Soleil.

In the end, we just slept there, and left early morning asap. For 150$ + tax, it felt like we could have much better (and we have typically in other B&Bs), and that never leaves a good taste.

To try and balance this review, the innkeeper (Scarlett's son we presume) was kind, the place might be good for families with children, since there is a lot of space. It's quiet, off Silverado trail so you sleep well. There is free wireless internet. We can't think of much more positive to say. It was a big disappointment and we won't return.

A review like this is very disappointing as we do our best to meet our customer's needs and make them comfortable here at Scarlett's. There also appear to be some inaccuracies in this review.

First, we have never had more than 3 dogs on the property. We currently have one with an occasional second that visits from time to time.

Second, the dogs are not allowed in the rooms and are normally contained in the back yard. The rooms are very clean and don't have offensive odors. Sometimes after a carpet steam cleaning, a musty smell can persist for a day or two. This may have been the case.

Third, there was a brief time when we scaled back to a continental breakfast. This may have been during that time period. Nevertheless, we provided coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt, orange juice and fresh pastries in the rooms. We always served quality products and fresh ingredients. We have since returned to cooking a full breakfast and serving it in our main dining room.

Fourth, our swimming pool sits in a gorgeous woodland setting and was custom built for the site. It has a giant boulder on one side and is landscaped with star jasmine, bamboo and rock walls. Many guests spend all day by the pool enjoying the peace and quiet. To compare it to a Motel 6 pool is insulting and unfair. A picture of the pool is on our website for your perusal.

Please read our other reviews, as I think they more accurately reflect our property.
