“Romantic Relaxing Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

THE ROMAN SPA in Calistoga, Ca. offers a romantic, relaxing getaway in Napa Valley's wine country.
Large, clean, comfortable well-appointed rooms at reasonable rates surround a large thermal pool in a beautiful garden setting. Two therapeutic pools and saunas are just a step away.
The ROMAN SPA offers mud baths and massages and the helpful staff gives tips on restaurants and shops on Calistoga's main street, just a block from the resort.
Across the street is a fascinating museum with Disney's Oscars and historical displays. Nearby are premium wineries, a state park and a faithful geyser.
We return every year to the ROMAN SPA after the holidays and brought Seattle friends this January. They were delighted and want to come back next year.

Room Tip: We like ones by the pools on the first floor so we can grab our towels and head for the warm spas.

Violet Joy,
Thank you for your very kind comments. It is a pleasure to hear when guests return year after year and introduce friends to our resort. Calistoga indeed has so much to offer, I'm glad you mentioned the Sharpstein Museum, it is a wonderful jewel in our town with new exhibits rotating continuously (I just heard yesterday that the Travel Channel shot a short segment at the museum for their Mysteries at the Museum program. They were interested in a black kettle that was used by some members of the Donner Party.)
We look forward to seeing you again next year after the holidays and your friends from Seattle too!

“Wonderful spa hotel for rest and healing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We just spent a day and night at the Roman Spa Hot Springs Resort and despite the current construction, the stay was wonderful and restful. The natural hot springs waters at various temperatures from 95 to 104 degrees were very soothing. In addition, to the hot springs waters, there were jacuzzi jets that made the waters invigorating. Inside the large room that houses the 100 degree pool, there were saunas for men and women. My only wish is that the pools were open for longer hours (beyond the 8AM to 10PM time period), but that was only a minor issue, and did not impact our enjoyment of the facilities. My wife and I received massages in the Spa and the massage therapists were very thorough and considerate of our needs.

The hotel room was clean and the king size bed was very comfortable. We appreciated having free wireless internet and a fairly large choice of cable TV stations. The hotel staff was friendly and helped us get a 10% discount at one of the local restaurants, Barolo's. The half chicken in wine sauce was delicious. We are looking forward to returning for another visit to the hotel and spa soon,

Room Tip: Rooms near the front office during the construction would be better to avoid the daytime constructio...

Richard,
Thank you for your wonderful comments. I am so glad you enjoyed our natural geothermal pools and the jets on the 2 pools, indeed they are both soothing and invigorating as well as provide a wonderful warming to the body which many people love to do in the evening prior to bed. I'm also happy to hear you were pleased with your massages, next time you may want to consider a mud bath prior to your massage for the ultimate experience since your muscles will be perfectly primed for an excellent massage.
Your comments about our rooms, amenities, and friendly staff are always a pleasure to hear about, we strive to provide those "extras" that make us a very special place in the eyes of so many of our guests. We look forward to serving you again soon.

“Best Spa, Best Value in Calistoga!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I have been all over Calistoga to spas and hotels, and I was pleasantly suprised by this great spot! I have found that all of the spas with the natural hot spring waters are all about the same as far as spa and treatments, although they vary in price greatly. In my opinion, the highlights of this location are, hot pool, hot tub, and roman spa/jaccuzzi inside, as well as mens and womens nice sized fit about 6 people dry saunas, all of which comes free with your rooms, and they are open until 10:00pm! The spa has great mud and hydro tubs with 2 feet of bubbles(the others have small regular tubs with these wierd bubblers under your but,no good), they leave you alone to get in and out of tubs so much more privacy, yet still very attentive and check on you frequently. The massage rooms are private and quite with wonderful massage therapists. The prices are reasonable, the location is right in the center of town one block off so easy to walk everywhere, which is nice if you are consuming any local wines! The rooms are nice and clean, not fancy. I prefer a good price and great spa over stylish rooms and hype. If you are looking for something more luxury you will be paying the minimum of $400 a nite at the very few 5 star places in town. This spa is the best place in town in my opinion don't waste your money at the others.

“Our 3rd trip...with more to come!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

My husband and I just returned from another glorious January trip to this charming hotel and we are, once again, simply delighted with the entire experience! We arrived early for our scheduled massages, went to lunch nearby, admired our clean, lovely room, and enjoyed our much-anticipated first dip in one of the three warm-to-hot pools by mid-afternoon...Ah, what bliss! We cannot decide what we like the most: the spa, the pools, the comfy mattress and bedding, the saunas, the friendly, helpful staff, or their numerous other guest amenities. The lovely gardens led us to investigate the gracious and well-planned barbeque/picnic area for the first time, and now we cannot wait to entice a group of family and friends to join us for a fun and relaxing trip to this welcoming location in the near future. We love it!

Room Tip: We have never found the hotel crowded in January/February so there is very little or NO noise from t...

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I am so happy to hear that on this trip you found our barbeque/picnic area, it is a very popular spot for groups and couples. As you noticed we offer both gas and charcoal grills along with grilling utensils (our housekeeping department keeps the grills so clean that many new guests comment about there apparent lack of use)! The only item you would need to purchase is charcoal if you chose not to use one of the gas grills. Our staff will be more than happy to assist you in planning your next family reunion or group of friends this spring or summer. Please give us a call-we look forward to serving you again soon!

“Beautiful grounds, quiet, always relaxing!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

My girlfriends and I have been enjoying the Roman Spa for the last 17 years. It's always quiet, walking distance to the quaint Calistoga town, and we love the pools. There warm, clean, and there's 3 to choose from. The staff in friendly, helpful, and the grounds are beautifully planted with fresh flowers every year we return. Can't say enough wonderful things about our favorite spa place.

Jill, thank you for your wonderful comments. We are always so happy to have return guests describe their experience with us. We are also so happy to hear that we are your favorite spa place (maybe you were one of those that voted us into the top 25 hotels in the US for relaxation/spa). We look forward to serving you and your girlfriends next year. Thank you again.
