“What has happened to this lovely inn??”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2007

Years ago, I knew one of the owners and since he and his partner sold this place, it has falled apart.
I have stopped by to see if things had changed, but alas, not so.
I also had a very good friend in the wine industry who had offered to do wine tasting there, the innkeeper was not interested.
Knowing the orginal history of this once lovely place, it breaks my hear to say, "Do not stay at this Inn". Maybe one day some great transformation will occur and the Inn will become a wonderful excperience once more.

With much regrets I have written this review.

“Filthy and Unhospitable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2007

Very unclean. Never saw the hosts. Front door and bedroom door did not lock. Windows did not open. Sheets were not clean. Human stains throughout. Only positives were it was off the main drag (walking distance) and the breakfast was good.

“Lacking personallity”

Although this landmark inn has a great reputation and is located perfectly off the main drag, it is lacking in the most basic of B&B requirements, warmth & attentiveness.

The Inn is charming in appearance, albeit very in need of restoration. The owners were nowhere to be found and the "fill-in" greeting committee was short & cold, more worried about joining her boyfriend for a smoke rather than tending to guests.

Once pressed, we received some water (no water, coffee or tea was readily available during our one day stay), a recommendation for a mud bath and other information.

The Inn is up for sale which may explain the lack of care for the grounds & the guests.

It may be worth another stay once the sale is final and a caring recipient once again is at the helm.

Oh yea, breakfast was yummy.....!

“Do not recommend the Elms”

My husband and I stayed there two nights and we never saw the Innkeeper. No one ever greeted us, asked us how things were or if we needed assistance of any kind. In other words no customer service whatsoever. The room was almost 300 per night with the tax and the bed was terribly uncomfortable. The room was dark and not too clean. Breakfast was okay but very sweet. I would not recommend this B&B to anyone.

“Love Love Loved It!!!!!”

I had the best time ever! I came by myself to get away from the hustle and bustle. The room I stayed in was SO cute. It was the brides room and the bed, well I just didn't want to get out of it. When I finally did, I went down to an awesome breakfast. The woman cooking was so sweet and Maggie served us up with a smile. According to the owner the Dogs and Kids (parents too) had moved down valley and a great Innkeeper moved in. She was so helpful and had some great suggestions of where I should eat, drink and be merry. Everybody was so friendly. I really loved sitting on the front lawn with my wine and watching the world go by...very slowly. My only regret is that I did not have a sweetheart with me.
