“Perfect place to stay”

Indian Springs is one of our favorite place to stay -Anywhere- It very quite- Has really nice old cottages with kitchens or totally restored very well done rooms in the "lodge". You can't go wrong with either. Indian Springs has an amazing mineral pool that is enormous and a wonderful spot to float in the hot waters or sit and read- it also has a steam room, showers lockers- right out of the 1900's. The resort also has a spa with mud baths and other spa services. We have found that the massages, which are a bit pricey, are also very commercial in nature so not bad but not exceptional either. The entire staff- be it at front desk, spa pool or housekeeping , could not be friendlier or more professional. As there is no restaurant on the grounds, although plenty within a short walk, it makes for a very quite peaceful setting.

Room Tip: If you want to stay in the lodge ask for a room on lower floor and away from the street- the ground...

“Beware of changes in policies”

I've been a loyal patron of IS and adore the treatments. I wrote to the owner recently regarding a change in their reservations policy and the first response was pretty quick - final result pending (been 9 days so far). Previously, during a non-holiday period, the cancellation policy was 48 hours - now it is 14 DAYS! (and you have to pay at the time of booking) While the Manager has the discretion to override, I have serious doubts. So, if you cancel 13 days before your trip and no one else books the room you had, you still have to pay. Quite frankly, this new policy is offensive. Additionally, IS is building a new pool! Awesome, except that the MAIN ATTRACTION is the olympic sized swimming pool and should be reserved for adults (which is sometimes overrun with children). Previous complaints indicate that children have ruined experiences and stays - and some suggest that IS should decide whether it is a spa destination or family destination and I agree. While I love this place, it simply offers very little for children (except the swimming pool), plus ALL SPA SERVICES are for adults. Children that are old enough to be in the pool area and make a ruckus (because let's face it, that's what kids do, they have fun and it is more often than not, loud) cannot get massages, take a mineral bath, take a mud bath, get a massage, etc. Furtermore, I doubt children feel that the need a "spa day to get away from it all".

Room Tip: Stay AWAY from rooms near the street (noisy)

“wish I had a longer stay!”

What a fabulous resort in the heart of downtown Calistoga. Settled among beautifully landscaped grounds, this resort seems to offer all the amenities of a 1st class spa and resort. Our room was very comfortable and had a private courtyard. The pool was amazing and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Breakfast offered early in a room in the public courtyard had many offerings and a warm fire to sit by and relax. Would love to go back and spend a few more days there.

“Pure Greed”

Indian Springs has changed their reservations policy - must pay at time of booking (no problem); with a 14 DAY cancellation policy. If you cancel 13 days before your reservation and the room is not rented by someone else, you still have to pay! It's possible that you can ask a Manager to override decision, but why gamble when there are so many other places to go? Other places may not compare, but I've been going to IS for over 15 years and I am deeply offended at this new policy; it is simply absurd.

Shabby and ruined a family reunion. Had to find a new place with 2-days notice on a holiday weekend.
