“Calistoga Spa Hot Springs is wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I have been going to Calistoga Spa Hot Springs for about 20 years now and I have never been disappointed. It started as a day trip-ONCE-then a wedding shower-ONCE-then every Mother's Day weekend with a group of gals and family weekend trips-now it's a get-away for me and my husband. The staff is wonderful, the pools delightful, spa services relaxing, rooms are great and I love the bbqs. We will be spending our anniversary there this year. We are looking forward to another great weekend. Don't forget your Noodle for the pool. I can't wait to see the remodeled pools and fire pit.

Room Tip: If you want to bbq I suggest a downstairs room---you don't have to bring your stuff up and down...

Hello Debbi, we love wine too! Thank you for the feedback on our property. Over the next 18 months our goal is to continue making enhancements that our guests will enjoy and appreciate. Great tip on the Noodles. Cheers, Mike Lennon - General Manager

“Frequent Visitor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

True that this hotel is on the older side, but the convenience of having a little kitchen in each room and the wonderful hot springs spa tubs. It is clearly a popular place as you need to book your room a decent time in advance.

Have also had a mud bath treatment here as a gift. Very enjoyable and relaxing, well worth the cost.

“Birthday at Calistoga”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Have spent many birthdays at this place. Wonderful sort of down home type of establishment. I think all rooms have a kitchen and easy access to the hot tubs and pools. There is a two night minimum on weekends but I just asked for one room for one night this Sat (we are already getting two other rooms) and it was agreed to quickly. I like how accommodating the staff is for special occasions. Last year they let us know of a deal they were offering (a Passport) that saved us money and added to our weekend pleasure without even knowing about it beforehand. Some may think January is a weird time to spend in Calistoga but we love the steam and fog and early evenings spent in the hot tubs. Love this place.

Room Tip: Been going for years and have not had a bad room yet.

Hello there, thank you for the review of our property. We just added a fresh photo of the pool deck to Trip Advisor. Your point about Calistoga in January is timely. There was an article posted on 52Perfectdays about coming to the Wine Country in the Winter. We hope to see you again later this year. Cheers, Mike Lennon - GM

“Best outdoor spa for day use in the wine country - newly renovated!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I have been going to this outdoor spa for years, and it just keeps getting better. I am not terribly familiar with the rooms, although they are probably nice enough, but I usually just go for day use since we live not too far away. It is like a little country club with mineral pools and spa services, and a gym. Get there early on popular days, and enjoy the tubs and pools until 9pm. They just renovated (completed December 2011), and it looks better than ever - all the tiling looks beautiful and tastefully done. They added a gorgeous fire pit, beautiful indirect lighting, and it looks like they are planning to add some outdoor canopied beds if I am not mistaken. Bring a picnic, or walk one block to get to downtown Calistoga and buy a picnic lunch and bring it back (there is even a winetasting place within a block). They allow you to bring food and drinks (alcoholic too!) to enjoy at the tables that surround the pools. This place is not only great, but kid-friendly. There is a large gazeboed hot tub which is adults only, but they have a kids warm pool under a waterfall, and the lanes pool and other hot pool are open to kids (they even allow flotation devices).

Oh, did I mention that on January 1st when we went, it was 70 degrees out and sunny? Little slice of heaven.

“Aging; Improvements Coming?”

My BF And I stayed here on a drive trip. It's a lovely spot and the hot spring soaking spas are fabulous. Wish we'd had a chance to sample some of their other spa amenities, this would be a very nice destination resort.

Unfortunately there was serious remodeling going on while we were there, involving the swimming pool (closed) and the sidewalk leading to our room. I think this bodes well for the near future but made for an awkward traverse to our room, which happened to be the single most distant from both parking lot and lobby - down the overgrown sidewalk, up the stairs, around a bend and down another walkway. The room was pretty quiet but the mattress was old, thin and uncomfortable. My BF chatted with the recently-hired manager and it sounds like better mattresses are on the short list so we may go back.

Room Tip: Make reservations, and arrive early.
