I am working at a 5 star hotel chain and not used to staying at motels. Portofino Inn was a nice surprise. They recently renovated their rooms and the clientele is middle-class tourists and business men. Room was good size and up-to-date, nice decor. I stayed with them for 7 nights on leisure as I was visiting my friend in town. During my whole stay, Housekeeping was great and consistent, flawless!

Accommodating folks who worked with us when we had personal issues. Very comfortable pillows and mattresses. Fridge and microwave and understanding attitude about having food in room. Good mirrors. Lovely flatscreen t.v.

I stayed at the Portofino at the beginning of September 2011 for three nights. I had booked online months prior, and the Web site made it look like a three star hotel, maybe four. But I did happen to see a photo of the motel sign before I arrived, and I anticipated it wasn't nearly that nice. Indeed, upon arrival, it looked more like a Motel 6 than a Holiday Inn. Inside was a different story, however. The room was clean and very nicely appointed...large, flat-screen TV, armoire, very comfortable king bed, refrigerator, iron/ironing board and Internet. I couldn't get the Wi-Fi to work, so the guy at the front desk gave me a cable, and that worked just fine. The first couple nights I was there, I think there was only one other guest in the entire place. The ONLY thing I could criticize is the continental breakfast, which was typical of low-end motels...the usual cereal, doughnuts, white bread, etc. Outside of that, this is probably an underrated motel, and the value for the money is very good.

I usually stay in nicer hotels, but it looked pretty cute on the website. when I got there, it looked like a 2 star motel... so I was a little leery. but the bedding in my room was great- it felt more like a 3/4 star ... I'm kind of picky about my sheets. lol.

it was great for a last minute stay.
