“An elegant sufficiency”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

Toasty warm rooms, set back from the road with a nice view from our deck through the trees of the snow falling, everything works, front desk friendly. If you need modern ambience, cappucino, marble bathrooms or nouveau curtains and furniture, go stay at a nice resort and pay four times as much. Tahoe Inn is older, but it's just fine and a great bargain. We've stayed there twice and would choose it again.
We had a problem with a light switch in the bathroom and they had us into another room on the same hall within the hour. If you are on a ski vacation, how much time are you going to spend in your room anyway ? Within walking distance (200 yds) to three casinos and good eats in Nevada.

Room Tip: ask for a room with an outside deck

“Needs Maintenance. Pool was closed by health inspector.”

The Pool was closed by the health inspector. That's where it all begins. Peeling paint, dirty carpets, rude staff.

“Stay away from the first floor. In fact, from the second and third, too:)”

Well, you can guess from the price this isn't going to meet your expectations. But, there are things beyond just being a cheap beat up... well... hotel, I guess? First floor is actually half basement, and you will see bottom of the parking lot from your window, it also obstructs much of the light. But - there is more fun - marijuana smell in the hallways. Second floor - if you are LUCKY to ask for it and get it (because they try to cramp everybody in the first floor rooms), is almost as smelly, not much more light, pretty much everything is broken - lamps, TV remotes, etc., and you can here your neighbors TV even on the low volume. I have to constitute though that sheets were clean.

Room Tip: ASK for second floor. And spend couple more bucks to request Deluxe room with balcony - more light...

“Have always enjoyed the value this property represents”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

We just returned to the Bay area from a weekend stay at Tahoe's north shore. If you look for a budget hotel that's right at the Nevada border (across from CalNeva hotel), then this is the place to stay. There are rates starting at 39 dollars, but don't expect Hyatt Hotel type accomodations at that price. You'll get the old (50's) building and those rooms do show signs of wear. But don't complain, when the average price at a north shore hotel is in the low $ 100's ... go stay at the Cottage Inn on the west shore ... $180 is the lowest rate there.
Here's a hint for a more experienced (and intelligent) traveler:

At Tahoe Inn, always ask for the "East Wing" .... it's modern and clean, sits back from the street amidst the trees. At 54 Dollars it's a very fair price and includes free Wi-Fi, a nice size TV with a great picture and a wonderful in-tub shower with a large bathroom sink to easily store the grooming supplies of two people.

There you have it ... and quit complaining ... The ladies at the front desk are wonderful.

Jerry

“Not recommended”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

Reserved a "queen superior room" and upon arrival the toilet was non-functional, not to mention the room was awful. When I went to the check-in desk to notify them about the toilet, I was told that this toilet had apparently been in disrepair for at least a week. We were switched rooms and ended up in a room facing the road. Nice enough view however, there is a steady stream of traffic all night and the sound kept me up. Terrible bed - was like sleeping on the floor (though with the odor in both rooms I wouldn't recommend sleeping there either). While the hotel is listed as a hotel you can bring your pet to, I would not call it "pet friendly" as there is a rule that you cannot leave your pet unattended AT ALL. So, unless you have plans that include your pet 24/7, I would not bring your pet to this hotel.
