“Get it in writing!”

Was looking for an affordable motel for my family of four over Thanksgiving holiday. After talking to the manager, Sherry, by phone two months prior, I was quoted $100 per night. I thought that was pretty reasonable for this older motel with dated furnishings. (The pictures shown on website are a true representation of the rooms so there were no surpises when we checked in.) At the time of booking, I asked Sherry if she was going to send me a confirmation and she said, no that she had me down and that was enough. It seemed odd to me and since we travel so much and always have confirmations, I decided to email myself with the the information, date, time, rate etc. so I would have something in writing for myself. As it turned out, my husband checked us in and I had not discussed the rate with him. Later that evening he handed me the receipt and I was shocked to see the rate of $150 instead of the $100 per night as I had booked! The next day, I went to the office to speak to Sherry but she was not available. I explained to the gentleman at the office that I thought there was an error. He said he would talk to Sherry about this but I never heard back from the office. I decided to make another attempt at getting refund but,of course, the office was closed the day we were departing. I would never have agreed to pay $150 for this room and as I mentioned above, based on the website photos of the rooms I knew exactly what I was getting into, room wise! My recommendation to anyone staying here in the future, make sure you get a confirmation/room rate in writing! Also, to the management, why don't you spend a little money and upgrade your mattresses and pillows. Mattress was old and very uncomfortable (room 15) It's pretty sad when your pillow feels like it belongs on the menu at a pancake house.

This particular guest was called one week prior their arrival, and their reservation was re-confirmed for a two room kitchen suite. After speaking personally to this guest about their quoted rate, length of stay, and choice of suite, they were pleased and all was set for their reservation. It is our policy to reconfirm all holiday reservations before the guests arrival. Best regards, the owner

“It served it's purpose”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

We needed a place to stay over in Bishop and choose this motel after reading the reviews. The front office was pleasant. The exterior well maintained but the interior of the room needs some attention. The carpet needs upgrading very dingy, and fishing line on the carpet. Security chain broken, and the bathroom had leaks at the sink and tub. Heater in bathroom not working, a bit chilly. The plug for the coffeemaker was unreachable behind the TV cabinet. We went down the street to the looney bean for a wonderful cup of coffee.
ON the upside, beds were okay, the towels bright and clean as well as the bathroom.

This motel is awesome!! Stayed for 2 weeks. I came down with my boyfriend and son, the room was clean and loved that we had a full kitchen!! My son loved the pool of course....the management (Sherry & Randy) were more than gracious. My boyfriend was down on business and my son and I went down for fun....it is close to all stores (walking distance) and the fishing was awesome!!!! Had a great time, and yes we will be back-this time for a vacation!!! Already have reservations for August and cant wait!!!

“The Village Motel - Don't go!”

I wanted a minimal fishing motel and got it. Besides the poor acomodations such as swamp coolers for cooling in most rooms and an ineffectual window air unit in mine, the bed was a board. But that's not the end of the horror... Reserved two rooms, one for my son and one for myself. Upon arrival my son paid for his in cash and I paid for mine with a credit card. When I returned from our trip and reviewed my credit card statement they charged me for my room and a day later made a non-secure charge to my card for my son's room. Now, trying to get my money back is brutal. Don't go to this motel. In my opinion they are crooks.

My husband works here in Bishop and this is where he stays. I come up whenever I can to stay with him and I love it here! The motel has full kitchens and every room we have stayed in is always very clean. The staff is very nice and friendly and they make you feel like you're at home. The locale is great walking distance to stores and restaurants too.
