“Bed Bugs....Electric Shock Blow Dyers”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2011

We checked in on April 20 due to long traveling from San Diego and heading home to Susanville, CA. After 6 hours on the road with a 2 year old we decided to stay in Bishop. We normally stay at another place but they were full and our second choice was the same...booked! So we pulled into this buggy place and decided to stay. We were so tired that we didn't take our luggage in (thank God) but just our must have (s). Our room was #130, according to the receptionist it was the last room. It was also a room for wheel chairs access. Long story short...late that night upon taking my granddaughter to the toliet we noticed ants on the floor by the toliet. Gross...!! In the morning I noticed more. I took a toliet paper and made sure I got most of them before entering the shower. I noticed red bumps on the back of my arm but thought it was a sun burn. As I was getting my hair ready to be blowed dried I turned it on and started to proceed. I heard funny noises and as they got louder I looked at the end of the dyer and noticed red sparks inside just blasting with that loud noise. Before I was able to turn it off my hand was shocked. I turned it off and unplugged it. My hand was tingy and at that time I was upset....I told my hubby as he saw it happened and said they needed to know about this as this room is for the handicap accessable. I talked to I believe her name was Veronica. She wrote the infomation down. I told her that the blow dyer needed to be tossed and what happened. She said sorry as a man was sitting on the counter talking to her. I told her that I would be in touch with the mangaer and she just nodded her head. As we proceeded to travel home our 2 year old said she had ouches on her back on legs. OMG...yeah she did...I was pissed. And mine looked like a road map. Hubby had just a few as they all fed on us. As of today no phone call from anyone. I had a doctors appointment in Reno as we only returned from our trip yesterday. I will be calling tomorrow for sure. Will post to share what they say and what they do.... Until they get a handle on the bed bugs....it's better to sleep in your car if that is the only place avaliable. I wished I had read the reviews before staying but it was a last minute and we were exhausted. DONT STAY AT THE LA QUINTA IN BISHOP (BUGS), CA!!!!!!!

“Poor for a La Quinta Inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2011

Location is just fine; however, this hotel is very run down and in need of an update. The carpet is worn and should be replaced. It was about 80 degrees during the day that we arrived (unseasonably warm); however, the air conditioner in our room did not blow refrigerated air. We had to leave the window open in order to cool the room. As a result, we heard street traffic all night long. While the bed was fine, the pillows were very hard. Needless to say, we did not get a lot of sleep. We have stayed across the street at the Holiday Inn Express several times before and it was much nicer, though it is more expensive. Additionally, we routinely stay at La Quinta Inn's because they accept our small dog and this one is substandard compared to just about every other La Quinta Inn where we have stayed. We stay overnight in Bishop a few times a year and we will stay at the Holiday Inn Express next time.

“What a wonderful stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

We stopped in Bishop because we realized we couldn't make the long drive home from Reno to San Diego. We pulled in town around 7pm and had no idea where to go. We had 2 dogs and a 1 year old and I am very picky about clean hotels that don't smell of smoke! This hotel had vacancy and were so nice. It was a great room (better than the ones we had been at during our trip that I researched). We were so glad we made the stop and will stay there from now on.

“Over priced for La Quinta”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

We supposedly got the last room. It was $118.00 for a small room with 2 beds, no refrigerator or microwave. Bathroom was very small. A large person would have been very uncomfortable getting through the narrow doorway. A couple weeks prior we stayed at a La Quinta in Las Vegas for less than $60.00. Large room with refrigerator & microwave. Breakfast area was very nice and well stocked.

“This is a scam”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2010

Arrived late evening after a long day driving from Yosemite and was looking forward to a well deserved beer and a bite. On arrival was told by the most unhelpful and basically rude receptionist that my reservation had been cancelled and if I wanted a room I would have to pay the current rate which happened to be around $40 more than my reservation. She also claimed that they only had one room left so if I didnt like I should look elsewhere so I had little choice as all other hotels were showing no vacancies. I stood in the lobby and watched her sell that last room at least 8 times over! - A scam for sure preying on tired tourists driving up from Vegas or from Yosemite with little choice late at night.

My credit card company is investigating and it sounds like I`ll get some of my money back as I have proof of reservation but this is one hotel to avoid. Sad thing is the room was ok. At breakfast the receptionist was the talk of the crowd so I felt better knowing I wasnt being unreasonable in my assessment of her.
