We went skiing at Snow Summit which is very close by. The village is walking distance. The room was very clean, bed comfortable and the room decorated rustic style.... but we had no fridge like it stated .
I read the reviews before I booked and most people complained about thin walls. I thought they were probably just being picky!! But...NO.....They were right.
I got no sleep at all. People up and down the hall returning from the bars, laughing, girls squealing until 3am. Then, got woken at 5am by a baby crying, a man sneezing (presumably upstairs or next door) but I swear they sounded like they were in OUR room.
I would not stay there again soley because of the noise issue.l

This was our 2nd stay at Northwoods in Big Bear Lake. Our 1st visit was disappointing, but they upgraded us to remedy their errors, so we decided to give them another try. We stayed for 4 nights. Our first night was noisy from outside and the thermostat wasn't working right, so we were up every hour or so turning on/off the heat. The 2nd night, even though we called in the problem, continued and we were told to open our window if it got too hot (1st floor open the window, really?). The third night, after lengthy discussion with the maintenance guy, the thermostat was fixed. Phone was broken, commode didn't flush properly, towels smelled weird, and hot tub was scalding. On a positive note, the heated pool was great after a long day on the slopes.

Went for the week end from L.A. and first thing the sheets weren't changed, we found a tooth past cap under the sheets, hair, food and stains of make up....!!!

Then during the night there was a party next door, wall are as thin a wall paper...no no no...not for me ever.

Went to skiing at Big Bear Lake and needed a place to stay. Decided on staying at Northwoods since it seemed to be the nicest hotel/resort in Big Bear (3 1/2 stars I think...) Anyway, mixed reviews on my stay, however since there are limited options available of nice hotels - would be willing to stay here again. Below are the pros and cons of my stay:

Pros:
*Was arriving very late at night and the reservation line was willing to provide me with a great deal. Appreciative of how they went above and beyond to accommodate.
*Attached restaurant has great breakfast food with friendly staff
*Within 2 miles of snow summit and within walking distance to the "Village" with lots of shops/restaurants
*Rates are very reasonable
*Overall, clean hotel

Cons:
*Front desk staff was less than friendly. Indifferent or curt may be a good description...if you had a question, they would barely answer and would not really assist.
*Internet was aweful - not sure if it was just my part of the building, but every 10 minutes, the internet would drop and reconnect - very difficult for working. Also, beware - I could not get my mac to connect
*Hotel needs to be remodeled/repaired. There were water/wet spots on the carpets in the hallways. TV, bathroom, amenities - all could use an update
