We stayed at the Shattuck Hotel in DT Berkeley. The room was very small, but the bed and bathroom were very nice and stylish. The hotel card system is somewhat busy--needing to use the card to keep your lights on and use the elevator. The fitness rooom is a joke, a couple ellipticals and TV in a sacrificed small room. Rooms a bit noisy--the earplugs in the desk drawer were a ?bonus.
Not four star, no grounds, somewhat eclectic or even garrish decorations---old time swank and disco flash, I guess.
Heard the restaurant was good, but thought it looked overpriced.
If you want to be close to the campus and many walk to restaurants, it works.
Value? not really; luxury scale = modest to low.
