“Pleasantly surprised, great price”

We took a chance on Hotwire, trying to find a hotel near enough SFO and got this at a very reasonable rate. We had a flight at 10:30am on a Sunday and I knew the distance would not be a problem - I would not take that chance on a weekday or midday on a weekend without leaving yourself more time. That said, the hotel was excellent. Francis was at the front desk when we arrived and when we left and he was very accommodating - he shifted rooms for people and recommended a fantastic Afghan restaurant across the street. The room was quiet (we were not on the El Camino side, but we were near the elevator) and our bed was very comfortable - not sagging at all. We also had a larger "suite" with a couch - I'm not sure how much larger our room was from others, but in comparison with the Holiday Inn Express in Chowchilla, it was just as large. The internet worked great for us and there is an exercise room at no charge. The breakfast was more than sufficient - eggs, pancakes, sausage, yogurt, milk, cereal, biscuits and gravy - self serve - and HOT! It is a good idea to ask to be on the opposite side of the El Camino Real just to make sure you get no road noise. This is definitely a safe place to stay if you are traveling alone. Staff is around at all hours and very attentive.

Room Tip: Rooms not facing El Camino will be more quiet

“Average is not bad.”

This is a perfectly acceptable place that you should consider if it is convenient for you (as it was for me). Good points: it's clean with a nice bright airy lobby and well-lit, pleasant hallways. We were in an "alcove suite" which is a good size room with an entry alcove where the microwave/refrigerator are located as well as a closet. Bathroom was spacious and bright. The staff were welcoming and responsive to every request. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. I liked that the breakfast room has some little nooks back in the corners and there was no TV blasting away.

Not so good: Bed mattress was showing signs of wear (sagging a bit); room lighting is not very good (especially bad in the alcove); internet was frustratingly slow; the in-wall heater/air conditioner makes a lot of noise. We were startled when the alarm clock radio blasted off at 5:30am--you might want to check on that.

Room Tip: You might request a room away from the Camino Real (main drag just outside).

“Very pleasant stay at Holiday Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

On my official visit to Oracle, I stayed at Holiday Inn Belmont for 28 nights straight. It was a very pleasant stay. I never felt away from home. Rooms were very clean and everything was well laid out. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Morning breakfast was healthy and had variety. There was everything (Grocery store, Eating joints, fast food corners, bus stop, railway station, doctor, dentist) available at close proximity that a person might need while traveling. Checkin/checkout was superfast.

I have few suggestions though :-
1) Even though I have mentioned that morning breakfast had variety, but it was the same for 1 month. Can we have some change from time to time, at-least during weekends :)
2) Internet connectivity was not great, Speed was too low - the staff directed me to the agency which provides internet to the hotel but they were not much help.

Having said all that. I would like to stay in the same hotel when I visit bay area next time. It provides very good value for money.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for your review of our hotel and the kind words you shared about your experience here. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and that we could be a home to you while visiting Oracle. Glad to hear you enjoyed the rooms, staff, location and amenities that we provided you with.

In regards to breakfast, we will work on trying to add some new menu items in the future to bring more variety. We recently added the pancake machine which has been a great success with the guests.

Also, sorry to hear the internet was not as fast as you had hoped. We have just updated our wifi plans and sometimes it is a matter of locations within the hotel which provide faster speed. Thank you for letting us know so we can check on this.

We are glad to hear you will be staying with us again next time you are here!

We look forward to having you back.

“Good South Bay Area Hotel”

I was happy with my stay at this Holiday Inn Express in Belmont.

Arrived in the evening, and it was like they were ready for me, check in was smooth, friendly, and super fast.

Price was decent, seemed pretty fair for what you get, which is a nice updated and clean room, peace and quiet, and a good breakfast.

Slept well, beds were nice, and as I mentioned before, it's quiet here.

Place is very clean, seems pretty new, and up date also.

Location is ok. But there isn't really much around this place in the way of entertainment, food, etc... you'd probably have to drive to find something like that, because I didn't see a whole lot nearby.

All in all, if I need a place to stay in the area, I'd certainly consider this hotel again.

“Convenient, Value for Money, Good Service - Best place for short business stays”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

I've been visiting the Belmont/Redwood City area for business for more than a decade now. I've stayed in many different hotels around that area - Hyatt Summerfields Suites, Sofitel, Marriott Towneplace Suites etc. My business visits are typically one week short. For my requirements, I've found that this is the best place to stay in that area. There is ample parking space, complimentary breakfast (being Indian, I don't necessarily enjoy the kind of breakfast served at this and all other places I mentioned earlier), spacious rooms and bathrooms. I stay in the executive king bed room which has a large bed and adjoining living area with sofa and writing desk. There in wi-fi available for free. There is a small refridgerator and microwave in the room. The bathrooms are well provided for. The staff is quite helpful and responsive. There are many restaurants nearby e.g. Kabul (Afgan) is right opposite, Omlette House is adjacent, Shalizar (persian) is nearby. There are a ton of restaurants in San Carlos very nearby - http://www.cityofsancarlos.org/residents/things_to_do/restaurants.asp

Now for the things that I would like to see changed...

1. There is no coin laundry in the hotel. Although there is a one public laundry available nearby (within 2-3 miles) in San Carlos, it would be quite helpful to have one in the hotel.
2. The small refridgerator is enclosed in a shelf and it makes gurgling noise which is particularly apparent during night. I switched off the refridgerator as I was not using it. But if you use it then this could be an issue for light sleepers (like me).
3. There is no central a/c and the unit in the room is a window a/c and is quite bulky. It also makes humming noise - but I found that to be tolerable.

In summary, this a great place to stay for the price you pay. The price is almost the half of the other places around.
