This was a real last minute booking as my husband asked me to accompany him to a full day IT seminar. I had only stayed at a Motel 6 once before in my life, and was nervous about booking, but this was the only place still available that accepted pets.
We drove up from LA and checked in at approx 4:30 PM Mon, June 7. There was a young woman and man at check in. Both extremely efficient and friendly. Very accommodating about our request to be on the quite side of the motel.
Surprise--these were indoor hallways with indoor front door access! So it did not have that motel feeling with the outside entry to the room.
At the room, I saw a member of the housekeeping staff in the hallway and requested an extra towel which she brought immediately. After we have been in the room about an hour, the young woman at front desk called to check that every thing was fine. (never get a call like that at the Westin!) When I jokingly asked about a coffee maker, she let me know about the suites with kitchenette--I did not know that Motel 6 had those. The front desk was kind enough to immediately upgrade us to the larger room. I was so surprised that it was only $10 more. Well worth it for our needs!
The room and beds were very comfortable, TV worked, and bathroom was spotless. (They only provide soap; nothing fancy as far as amenities.) Internet access was a couple of bucks for 24 hours and pretty fast.
We had our dog with us and I always use plastic bags to clean up after the dog, but forgot to bring some. While walking, I saw the housekeeping office. A young man working there gave me a supply of small plastic bags. The young man was very nice, courteous, and very willing to help.
By the way, the hotel grounds were very clean, attractive, and well-kept. My dog and I enjoyed the walking path nearby, too. The Oracle business center was right across the street and very pretty to walk around, too.
We ordered dinner from the In Room service menu (the Italian restaurant) that delivered. I thought a little overpriced, but my husband really enjoyed the food which was enough for 2 meals. Afterwards, they also called to be sure that we liked everything.
The second night, I requested extra coffee from the front desk; again, they were very nice and gave me extra creamer and sugar as well.
When we upgraded to the suite, we were in Building D, 3rd floor. The *only* problem was that the cigarette smell was very heavy in the hallway and would filter into the room sometimes when we opened the door. We had non-smoking room, but maybe they should assign entire non-smoking floor.
The A/C unit was just a little noisy.
Did not see a single store or "Starbucks" anywhere around; so be prepared! The coffee shop next door serves breakfast and lunch. My husband loved his oatmeal and fruit smoothie, and I thought the latte was excellent.
Overall, this was a fine stay and I would highly recommend the Belmont Motel 6.
