I stayed here as part of a ten day tour of California and have to say when I checked in I was a bit sceptical. It is not in a very nice part of town and the hotel security was non-existent. It was very easy for anyone to access the room hallways and parts of the car park were dark and secluded. The room though was fine but a long walk from where I parked.
The lady on reception was friendly and welcoming and helpfully directed me to Mimi's Cafe for dinner which is quite near and later to a bar across the street which made superb Long island Ice Teas. Overall, great value for money if you can overlook the security issues.

A friend and I had decided to take a road trip when we stopped at the Rodeway after a full day's drive. Immediately, I could tell the place was sketchy; there was a rough-looking dude hanging out on the walkway above of drinking beer and eyeing the women that passed. But, we couldn't afford to be picky. We asked for one of the rooms in the back, away from the pool and road. At about 3 am, someone was banging loudly on our door; we ignored it and they eventually stopped. Throughout the night we heard voices, music, etc. When we woke up in the morning, we opened our door to find used condoms, beer bottles and cigarette butts all over the hallway. Not that I expected four-star treatment at a Rodeway, but I would've liked a decent night's sleep. I would not recommend this place unless the above mentioned appeals to you.

Check in was easy. Our room was very nice, good bed and room was quiet. The property is attractive and very well maintained with lots of flowers. The Breakfast is adequate with fresh fruit available. Near freeway access. Many restaurants nearby. We went to Mimi's Cafe and loved it. We selected this hotel because of the reviews here and we are glad we did.

We were passing through Bakersfield to las vegas, and needed a place to stay for one night. We found the Rodeway Inn listed in the voucher book and it had the best ratings here overall; the prices were great and we decided to give it a shot. The rooms were clean, the front desk staff were friendly, and they had free high speed wireless internet. They also have remodelled rooms but I guess they are not in the voucher rate, the older ones are looking really outdated and in urged need of a overhaul. (including the bath). But it is OK for night. Breakfast was ok, Bagels, Toast, Muffins, Orange Juice and Coffee.
