We stayed here many times when it was the Comfort Inn & Suites which we truly enjoy. I think the property is searching for an identity. They changed the name to Value America Inn and got visitors they didn't want. Then changed it to Baymont Inn and Suites with a decline in service from the previous Comfort Inn and Suites.
We had a problem with the heat/air and neither of the desk persons could resolve the issues. The breakfast was a joke. I know it is not a full meal but the food was miserly in quantity in quality.
I can not recommend this place as it is now.

We took the last room available for the night, a king with jacuzzi. Bedroom lighting was poor. We had to move a lamp from a desk to bedside to read. The bathroom only had one switch for light and a very loud fan. The stuffing in the chair was falling out of the bottom. The room was clean however. We would have preferred a better accommodation even if it had cost more.

We'd lost sleep the night before with vending and ice machines outside our room so when the same thing happened here I asked the manager if there was any chance of a change. What an unpleasant man. He said discounted rooms booked through websites would have issues. The only other option he offered was a room at the side of the lift. The hotel was very quiet and you would have thought in the interests of customer service...but heyho, welcome to Bakersfield!

Was extremely surpised to find that despite the cheap `show-up` rate the rooms were very large and well appointed, with a kitschy Arabian feel.

The hotel is located close to Highway 99 wjichw ill take you direct LA in an hour or so. Its main function seems to be for business users, but it surved as a useful stop off point on our long drive from Yosemite to Death Valley. It is close a selection of good ( if a little bland) chain restaurants and bars along the main route out of town. Parking was free.

Probably best for business, but surved its purpose well, as there are not many other large towns in that area.
