The Clarion was conveniently located. The room was meticulously prepared for our stay. Upon arrival, the front desk person quickly checked us in. The area has several restaurants in the area. All in all, it was an excellent stop. We will stop here again on our next trip through Bakersfield.

Staff is very nice. Rooms are clean quite and very comfortable. Easy freeway access. Good restaurant within walking distance. Will stay again.

The Clarion Hotel in Bakersfield is clean, the staff is friendly and the location is perfect for us as we travel from Northern California and Las Vegas. When time permits, we stop in Bakersfield to break up the drive. Because I have to use a walker, I requested a handicap accessible room. When we checked in and saw the room I was surprised at that the shower is over a bathtub. There are bars to help, but I was unsteady and had my husband help me in and out of the shower. I don’t know how anyone who has less mobility than I could manage. There is no space in the bathroom to put toiletry items. The seat on the toilet is slightly raised, so there is no lid to sit on or to put your toiletry bag on. The room is too cramped to accommodate a wheel chair. They have done what they can to accommodate disabled, but it doesn’t work too well.
The room does have a refrigerator, microwave and in-room coffee. The internet is free. They also offer in-room pay movies. I checked the previews of the movies and had to laugh, they are all from 2008.
The bar and restaurant are closed on weekends. Breakfast is served from 6:00 to 9:30. If you want hot coffee, I suggest you make it in your room. They had scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes, biscuits and glue - oops, sorry, I think that was gravy. We rated the breakfast as dreadful. But on our way out we got our gas as Costco ($3.73 on 6/26/11), that is a bonus.

The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful it is a shame that more places don't hire people like this. The room was clean, decently appointed and large. It was arranged a bit oddly but still quite nice. The sushi restaurant in the lobby was very good.
