On September 2011 we booked a room for one night in person (2 month in advance) as we happened to be in this area. We got a key and were allowed to see the various rooms so we picked and booked one of the largest rooms by the pond with nice view, paid for it in full by Visa. When we arrived on November 2 month later we were very surprised that our room was rented to other people and we were given a different room(they explained that the room size is same but we are sure it was not). The room was not clean and dirt was visible on the floor under the sofa and bed, TV was old style but the bed was very good. Our biggest surprise was when we checked out they asked us to pay again. It took us a while to explain that we already paid, we showed our reservation copy that shows that we paid in advance and they could not find any records of it in their books, (shows sloppy booking record).
When we came back home the next day we checked our visa statement record and sure we paid in full 2 month in advance. We will never return to this place for sure. Take my advice this is not a 4.5 star place I would rate it at 3 stars, too bad as it is located at a very nice place.

This was our 6th visit to Adventure Lodge since 2004. Our last visit was in late 2009. This use to be a very exceptional place - bikes, Kayaks, really good meals and service.
Our last stay will be our last. Things have changed very badly. There use to be bikes and kayaks - no more. The staff are instructed to send you to the Couples resort for these at a cost of $$$ - they then tell you to see an Outfitter who will charge you $. There use to be a choice of breakfast menu items such as omelettes, pancakes, pancakes bacon sauage and ham - no more. Dinner use to be done by an exceptional cook who no longer works there - now you get raw fish and boiled chicken and pork. The evening staff regularly left as soon as possible often before 9pm. Our room had there broken light bulbs ..... I emailed a compliant to the Couples Resort who manage this property - it took 2+ weeks to get a responce. They candidly stated this place was banckupt earlier in the year and made no appoligies.
Save your money and go elsewhere

We were very happy to see that Adventure Lodge had reopened its dining room. Although we have stayed at the Couples Resort in Whitney on many occasions, we prefer a more rustic and less formal dining room and a smaller number of guests at meals when we are on holiday. Ken Reed and Liz Michaud welcomed us warmly and made sure that we were well taken care of during our stay. As a bonus, Ken`s wife, Penny, made everyone feel like they were part of the family. The meals were excellent and we loved being able to bring our own wine at dinner without having to pay corkage fees. Overall, this resort provides excellent value for the money in a superb setting very close to Algonquin Park. We really enjoyed our stay and we plan to be back!

The Adventure Lodge was great. We had a beautiful cabin (Dominican) with a huge bed, fireplace, satellite tv, and a fridge. The food - breakfast and dinner - was delicious. The staff are really friendly - but not intrusive.
The lodge is just a few miles from the Algonoquin Park gate.
Highly recommended the Adventure Lodge to anyone looking for a slice of tranquillity at reasonable prices and so close the East Gate entrance of Alongquin
