“Poor condition very noisy floor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

the only reason to stay there is if there is no other place to stay. We've been in Worse places but this one was also expensive.
the floor was very noisy, the room was small, the bath was old and the room itself looked even older. the workers aren't so nice and compering to all hotels in scotland there was no homey feeling
the town is nice but if you want to stay in this area I would chose a different hotel.

Room Tip: maybe they have newer rooms. ask for one

“Scottish Heaven”

My wife and I spent 3 days at this delightful small hotel where everything was as it should be. The room was large, clean and well apointed. The food was excellent, especially breakfast. The manager, Ross, was very helpful and interesting to talk to and the beer was tasty. I note some reviews say it is "old fashioned" - if that means it has a comfortable lounge with NO television or piped music then I prefer "old fashioned". Also other reviewers say the walls were thin and the rooms noisy - we had bedroom No. 3 and heard nothing. Everyone we met in Plockton was freindly (even the fishermen) and we would highly recommend the place for a touring base - 20 mins to Skye, 90 mins to Ullapool. You can also get the train to Inverness if you like railway journeys through impressive scenery.
Book two nights and get third freee is a great deal !

Room Tip: Bedroom No. 3 was fine.

“Wonderful Stay”

My husband and I stayed at the Haven Hotel at the end of September. We both thought the standard of accomodation was excellent. The double room was very spacious and the bathroom was large and had a bath. There was plenty of hot running water and the shower was superb. We ate in the hotel on a couple of occasions and the food was to a very high standard.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and very helpful and overall we found the whole experiance very enjoyable and we would have no problem recommending the hotel to any one else.

“You can hear everything in the room above and below, I mean everything!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

The reception area was quite pleasant and had a warm comforting touch as you entered, however it all went downhill from there. The en-suite room was of a good proportioned size and it came with 2 single beds, a TV, chest of drawers, desk and wardrobe (all which looked like they came from the 1980s, and I don’t mean stylish 1980s, I mean more like your grannies 1980s with flower patterns etc.) The bed was uncomfortable and let’s be honest, small, I was hanging out of it! The rooms do not had the advantage of double glazing so be prepared for the room to get cold, unless you have the electric fire on (do all the rooms have an electric fire like this?) the bathroom was very very cold, really outdated and it was a job to keep the water from the shower spraying all over the bathroom itself. Fresh towels were supplied and tea and coffee facilities were in the room and a very small flat screen TV. As for my sleep, well what sleep, all I could here was the couple above me having constant sex, it felt as if there was a cd player in my room playing the best of sex sounds! The walls were incredibly thin, and because of the noise and banging headboards of other rooms the floors and ceilings must have been thin too! Breakfast was included, which was a full Scottish breakfast, cereal, toast, juice, caffeine etc., so at least that was something to look forward to after a fierce night in the battlefield. Oh by the way the room gets very cold at night, and because the electric heater does warm quickly but doesn’t keep the room at a constant temperature, you will either freeze to death, or fry to death. I use trip advisor for reviews of hotels abroad, I have never had to use it for one in Scotland, but because of hotel I feel it is my duty to tell you to stay away. If the hotel was half the price, then fair enough you can put up with that sort of service but it wasn’t!

The hotel at first glance looks like it will have character and charm, and for the money you spend for a night you would expect it do, but it was rather a disappointment.

“Snoring Hotelier above us!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

Our room was very dated with rose shagpile carpet- bed was average at best- and the overall decor looked like someone's daughter had moved out in 1980!

The bathroom was new-ish but lacked the final detailing such as edging and trims on the flooring and the shower curtain made it impossible to not get water everywhere- needs to be re-thought.

The worst thing was (and just our luck after traveling all day) the snoring that could be heard ALL NIGHT from the room above us- the man at the front desk when we checked in-presumably. We were supposed to stay three nights but moved on after one.

Room Tip: choose another place to stay!- or a room on the first landing would have been better but we didn'...
