“Winter getaway”

We had a shocking trip to get to Plockton, through heavy snow and rain. Indeed most roads to this beautiful place were blocked by snow or landslide The folks at the Hotel were a tad surprised to see us at all. Was it worth the trip? Yes. Nice room overlooking bay (No7) Not a big room, but Plockton is not a 'big' place. We ate in the restaurant the first night, and enjoyed quite a few drinks at the friendly bar. 2nd night we ate at the Plockton Inn which seves brilliant seafood from their smokery, but we prefer to stay at 'The Hotel' Great breakfast and wonderful location even on a wet day in January. We just hope it does not change.

“Wonderful Place - a 'must' when visiting the North of Scotland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

My partner and I stayed in the Plockton Hotel earlier in the year and we had our dinner in the main restaurant each night we were there. Absolutely amazing food.....I am not a seafood lover but my partner is so he had the seafood platter and said it was the best (and freshest) seafood he had ever had! The view from the room we had was outstanding as it looked out into the bay and I can honestly say the whole experience was an absolute pleasure. The staff were friendly and courteous without being overbearing and the hotel itself was just a dream to stay in! It's got to be one of our favourite places to visit and we have been around a bit! A must for anyone visiting the north west coast of Scotland and it's really close to Skye if you fancy a drive over to see the Cuillins and the stunning scenery on the Isle of Skye, truly a memorable experience!

Room Tip: Rooms on the front facing the bay are the best!

“Wonderful Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

Two couples - we just spent 3 nights DB&B, staying at the cottage annexe. Reasonable off-season rate, with excellent food and a fine choice of wines and malt whiskies.

We travelled to Skye and Applecross during our stay, returning in the afternoon for a dram or two and then dinner.

None of us has a single complaint on any aspect of the hotel, staff, food or location. We might have stayed up later if there had been live music, but we appreciate that this might not be practical off-season.

We highly recommend the hotel and we'll be back

Have had many visits to this lovely hotel, almost all out of season. This is a family owned and individually run establishment which also doubles as the heart and soul of the community. The first time we came here, more than 10 years ago, we loved the style and it is just as good today. The old building was brought up to date and remains very good with everything working well. The bathrooms, the TVs and the Wifi are all excellent.
The food has had some changes over the last year and remains fresh, original and with good portion sizes. Great fish and seafood, especially the locally caught langoustines and great locally sourced meat. The breakfasts are really good with imaginative fresh fruit salads as well as traditional eggs and bacon. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs is an example to other establishments how to do it.
All of the above would be nothing if the staff did not provide a welcome and this is the real strength of this place. As on all previous visits we were made to feel welcome and greeted as if we lived next door. Even very good and expensive chain hotels can never enter the league that this hotel plays in.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful village, right on the waterfront. The views are spectacular, even in the famed west coast bad weather. This is a great center for touring the West coast and Skye.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a view to the front in good weather. In bad weather there is a large room to the ba...

“Post Visit Review”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

All that we had read prior to our arrival was almost too good to be true, but as soon as we netered the town and then the hotel, we were indeed impressed. This hotel and this town is a must! We had nice meals - both dinner and breakfast and they were excellent.
