My colleague and I stayed here for the night and what can I say - superb! What a lovely hotel with a truly warm welcome..The bar has excellent facilities (pool table/dartboard/juke box) in great condition...The food was amazing, especially the scallops...and the view from the restaurant is stunning! A big shout out to Fergus who was an absolute star!! will certainly be back...whoever manages to give this hotel a poor review (if possible!), must be insane...see you next year Fergus for that seafood platter! :-)

This is one of the most impressive places in Scotland. The food was excellent (they prepared for a me a dish that was no longer available on the menu), and they let us taking our time to enjoy the dinner and the views.

When we finished, we moved to the lounge, to have a glass of whisky anad enjoy the nice music from a certain distance.

The overall of the place is just unforgettable!!!

WOW we were surprised and left really happy and relaxed!!! We stayed in this hotel and we had a lovely time. We stayed for two nights. It was about £30 cheaper per room, per night than the other local hotel and despite the great reviews we thought maybe you get what you pay for but we were pleasantly surprised!

The food is lovely and the view from the restaurant is just stunning (it would be a bit limited if you were a strict vegetarian however). We also had lunch in the lounge bar and again it was fresh, tasty and plentiful! The breakfast was great too and there were plenty options.

The rooms are very comfortable and warm and we had a fantastic night’s sleep on both nights.

The best way I can describe the service from this hotel is warm, helpful and well simply superb - you honestly feel like you're at home and welcome which is unusual these days in faceless hotels who try hard to look a certain way when really it's the whole experience that matters.

The local clientele made us feel very welcome in the lounge bar and we had a superb night with some live music from a local band which I believe happens often and it was free which is great. The drinks in the bar were very reasonable.

There is a larger hotel in Tongue too called The Tongue Hotel which we looked at initially as it seems to be better advertised. We went there for a meal one night and it was ok but not memorable which was a shame as the decor was lovely and the waiting staff were very helpful. We went for a drink after our meal in the bar downstairs also. It was ok but quite generalist and not as welcoming as the Ben Loyal Hotel so we only stayed for one.


We will be back (with friends this time)!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this hotel. Took my husband as a surprise and was not disappointed. The staff are really friendly, gorgeous cozy bar (very well stocked!) locals were lovely and great fun, lovely views, cozy, warm and clean rooms, excellent food and reasonably priced seafood as it is caught fresh by the owners...with is a lovely touch. Really really enjoyed it and cannot wait to go back!!!! Tracy who co-owns the hotel was amazing, really lovely and so welcoming - thanks Tracy!
