Hotel is situated in a quite town which is of no paticular interest. The hotel is centrally situated and is clean and attractive. However, meals are a disaster. Breakfast food is very limited and the service for coffee is an eternity. Staff seem to be stretched to the point where they can no longer cope. The evening meal suffered the same service but worse was the food itself. The menu seemed reasonable but the courses, when they arrived, were unbelievable. My chioce was a casserole, which consisted of cubed potato in a watery liquid with one small cube of meat. The other courses were small and of very poor quality. Considering the cost in what most people would consider a premier hotel, I felt 'riped off'.

“Nice Parador, pity about the town”

There no particular reason to vist Vilalba which apart from a small pedestrianised old town is an unnappealing industrial town devoted to agribusiness. However if you do need to spend the night and have no taste for the seedier end of the Spanish hotel trade you'll be in the Parador. Or if like me you collect Paradors and need to cross this one off the list.
This one has a fifteen century tower which until recently was all there was of the hotel until the recent addition of a large accomodation block, which now also contains the public areas.
It's all done, of course, in the usual Parador style and with the highest standards of appointment. If you can try and get one of the rooms in the tower.
The food is not the best Paradors can manage, but it'll be by far the best you're going to find in Vilalba.
Anyway, well worth a stop if you're passing this way.
