“Advice!?!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

If you are unfortunate enough to be allocated the same room as i was at this hotel i recommend the following:
1) Polyfilla (for holes in plaster)
2) Sander ( for flaking paint)
3) Earplugs ( to attempt a reasonable amount of sleep)
4) insect spray ( Cockroach in room!)
As a single traveller, in a large group i will say, that apparently some of the rooms were of a reasonable standard, food was adequate, my room was awful.
Such a shame, as the location is excellent, so much more could be done with this hotel.

“what a fraud!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2010

this hotel is like an old house. Everything is going down, noise from the pipes, the service is completely unable to understand what I said... even the price is something of another world. In this "hotel" i won't go back, sure! ... to Soller I will try because is a really nice and relaxable place

“Get what you pay for”

If you are looking for a cheap break or inexpensive accommodation for an event as i was, you can not go wrong with Hotel Marbell.

As you may expect the hotel is rather dated, my room was clean but very basic & there was a bit of a wiff coming from the air conditioning however it's in a great location if you need to stay in Puerto de Sóller for a short time. The best features for me were price, convenient location & pool which is very secluded & has a great view over the bay.

You get what you pay for so if you don't plan on spending much time in your room, 35 Euros a night is definitely worth a punt, friends stayed 2 minutes down the road at the lovely 4* Esplendido at 135 Euros per night for the cheapest room.

“Good modest hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2009

Good value hotel in great location overlooking Pto. Soller's beautiful horseshoe bay. Hotel is at opposite end of the 'horseshoe' to the harbour, in a generally peaceful location. Rooms at front have sea view and morning sun, rooms at rear afternoon/evening sun and are quieter. Light sleepers in front rooms may suffer 5.30 a.m. noise from beach cleaning tractor. Confirm earlier ref of damp in the 'bungalow' block at rear - ranging from smell to black mould growth and wet floor for members of our party.

Dinner was self-serve basic salad starter and dessert, and waiter served soup and main courses. No choice on soup and mains, so not for fussy eaters, but we found standard was good overall although desserts could be VERY basic (eg large bowl of very thin green yoghurt). Waiter-served courses delivered briskly - not much chance to linger over dinner.

Small pool and quiet sun terrace accessed from 3rd floor at rear of hotel. Bar terrace at front a lovely spot to take your time over a leisurely drink and enjoy the wonderful view. Didn't seem to be any facilities for children, although may not matter as beach is just a few yards away. Other guests when we stayed were mainly middle aged to older couples or groups. Good base for walking on coast, or inland from Soller. Nearby stretches of GR221 long distance walking route and other local routes seemed well signposted.

“Hotel modest but generally OK - some rooms damp”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2009

Port Soller is very pretty. Hotel is a good 15 min walk from the centre, 6-7 min walk from public transport (tram, bus). Gets morning sun on large bar terrace & restaurant overlooking the bay but deep shade from late afternoon - shame. Relaxed informal feel to the hotel but don't expect anything grand. Restaurant and cleaning staff are friendly. Reception sometimes indiffferent even if you try Spanish or Catalan. Just one internet/games machine for the entire hotel - crazy - and no wireless facilities even if you got your own comp. Moderate accommodation and bar prices. Quality of restaurant food is just adequate but you won't go hungry unless you are picky. Main complaint was dampness of some rooms - specifically in the "bungalows" , sort of outhouses - avoid!!. The weather was bone dry the whole time - can't imagine what they are like in the wet! Safes in rooms - charged. TV in rooms but you have to rent the remote - so use it without the remote. Pool hours are 11-6 in May which is too limited but maybe longer in high summer.
