“Enjoyed our stay”

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel has a beautiful view and a nice pool, the rooms were clean, the food was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very quiet (mostly full of older German walkers), which suited us.It's really very close to the centre of town - about five minutes down the steps and hill, or ten minutes up. The hotel was able to arrange car hire for us.

As a vegetarian, I found the buffet dinner a bit difficult, as the vegetarian option wasn't labelled, and it would tend to run out really quickly. There was plenty to fill me up (bread, cheese, salad, pasta and tomato sauce), but this got a bit monotonous by the end of the week. Also, the beds were quite hard.

Overall, though, we were really happy with our choice.

“Average hotel at a good location”

Stayed there for four nights during our honeymoon in June. Asked for a room with a view as high as possible, got the 2nd floor. We had to wait for the room for three hours eventhough we came at the check in time. The balconys are strange. When you sit down to enjoy the view the fence blocks the view since they are so high, very strange architect. The rooms are spacius and so is the hotel. The pool is nice and has a great view. Don't eat at the pool though, the food there is horrible. They had (If I remember correctly) around 5 items on the menu, three of them were sold out and the one we ordered (a Pizza) was not the same as on the menu. It was obviously a microwave pizza which was awful. You can eat the breakfast with an amazing view of they bay which is nice. The breakfast buffet has a very large selection. Unfortunately it's quantity over quality. IMO it's so easy to do just a little bit better but I can't say I can reccomend the breakfast. It was however included in our price so we ate there every day but had only yogurts the last two days. Overall a bit disappointed.

“Lives up to its 3 star rating”

We returned to Hotel Porto Soller for the third time in September. Once again we found it well up to its 3 star rating. It has a superb location, high up overlooking the Port with excellent views from a majority of rooms. The views from the restaurant are particularly good.
The staff are very friendly and unfailingly helpful. Many are multi-lingual too, especially in Reception. The hotel is kept sparkling clean from the individual rooms to the pool area. The rooms are simple but comfortable with air conditioning when you want it. The corridors are a little outdated but the public areas are inviting with a large paperback library. We enjoyed the selection of food whch is imaginative and well cooked. The only comment is that the evening slot is a bit short and early compared to traditional Spanish meal times which causes some queuing at times. A real plus is that the manager is almost always at hand in the evenings. The pool area is well provided with sun loungers and there is very little reserving of beds at 7am. A welcome change from many hotels.

Altogether an excellent hotel in its price range!

Room Tip: In the main hotel building, choose rooms 210-220 or 310-320 for the best views and the sun.

“Mostly all good”

My wife and I stayed at this 3 star hotel in Puerto Soller on a walking holiday the first week in October 2011. The hotel is quite modern in decor and very spacious on the ground floor with a large lounge area with comfy settees and a bar area. Unusually the hotel is 'upside down' in that the main entrance, although at ground level, is on the fourth floor with the bedrooms being below it on floors 1 to 3. Unlike some other reviewers we didn't notice any 'tiredness' to the look of the place. Food is hotel type food but a good variety for both breakfast and dinner. Plenty of fruit, yoghurts, cheeses, ham, eggs etc for breakfast. Dinner was okay, not gourmet food but for a 3 star hotel it's reasonable enough with a choice of fish or meat dishes and various salads. Both breakfast and dinner are buffet style - a useful touch is each buffet is replicated by another buffet in the dining room, which means there was no crowding. Breakfast and dinner can be taken in the dining room or on the spacious terrace overlooking the very picturesque harbour. Dining room staff - in fact all the staff we encountered - were pleasant and helpful. Most rooms have balconies that overlook the hotel's large outdoor pool and the harbour. The pool is kept very clean and there are plenty of sunbeds for all who want them. Hot water was mostly consistent although it did tend to run a bit short at peak demand time (around 5-6pm). Rooms are clean if fairly spartan. Ours had twin beds (both definitely on the firm side), a small settee and dressing table. No tea or coffee making facilities. The hotel is in a great position overlooking the bay - yes, there are a lot of steps up to the hotel but then if you want a great view you must expect to climb up to it. Going down, the steps lead directly into the harbour area with plenty of bars and some restaurants, a couple of small supermarkets and other shops. Plus the historic trams that take you to Soller itself (about 20 minutes on the tram). We were very happy with both Puerto Soller as a resort and the hotel. Summing up, the hotel is not luxurious but modern and very clean with pleasant staff and decent enough food. For a 3 star hotel we found it a good choice in a great location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony overlooking the harbour. Well worth it. Floor 3 gives great views both...

“Probably the best location in Port de Soller”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

We arrived here on the off-chance one Friday afternoon as the hotel we were already booked into in Port de Soller was not satisfactory. We have stayed here before, twice, so knew what to expect and the "mature lady" on reception, referred to by another reviewer, was more than helpful and promised us a good room. I too am mature and know how to handle such matters!! So we booked and returned the following day to find we had been allocated one of the best rooms on the top (fourth) floor overlooking the pool and bay. (402)

Yes the rooms are fairly small and perhaps a little tired but the location of this hotel makes up for any shortcomings. We had booked bed and breakfast at a very competitive rate as we chose to eat out each evening in one of the restaurants down near the port. The exercise we received walking back up those steps each night was also a bonus! (Yes, I can confirm there are 136 preceded by a hill!) Breakfast was reasonable but as has been remarked, more fresh fruit would have been welcome but everything else to start the day was available. The breakfast terrace outside the restaurant has panoramic views over the bay and surrounding mountains in the morning sunshine. The area is quiet with just the hum of the town from below and the occasional toot from the tram!

The pool is a good size but was very cold (September), in fact the sea was much warmer and the sun at that time of the year leaves the pool area quite early in the afternoon. Plenty of space and sunbeds however.

We would stay again as the tariff is very reasonable and the location is probably the best in Port de Soller.

Another bonus, not attributed to this hotel however was one evening we were eating dinner outside at one of the restaurants near the port when Tom Hanks and his wife walked past :-))

Room Tip: Rooms 402 to 406 possibly 407
