“Best of Irish welcomes in a beautiful house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2010

Flemingstown is a lovely farmhouse full of beautiful furniture in a pretty part of the country.it also has an exceptionally accomodating hostess. We were welcomed with tea and scones Irish style in the kitchen (the engine of the house) before going to our beautifully furnished and spacious en suite room. We had booked dinner and Imelda's spread did not dissappoint. We ate very well, the quality and presentation of the three courses was of the best and the quantity too was excellent. The dinner was great but the breakfast was exceptional. We had cereal, fruit, home baking and jams with a full Irish which was superb.Looking for a home from home-look no further.

“Flemingstown House is the Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

If we could sum up our visit at Flemingstown House in one word, it would be "Magical!" We arrived late after dark after being lost and not sure of the left hand side of the road driving, and Imelda and her husband Martin stayed up to greet us warmly. They showed us to a gorgeous room, and invited us into their home kitchen for tea and scones and Imelda's sister's home made cheese before retiring for the night. They made us feel as if we had been away for years and had finally made it back to our family. Truly! The warmth and lovely spirit flows from both of them through the house and the gardens and lands surrounding them, and your soul is touched wherever you step. Our bedroom was exquisite, very roomy, clean and comfy. The ensuite bathroom was modern and had a very nice hot shower. The room was cleaned daily and we were provided with clean towels and we never wanted for anything! The sounds of nature at night were calming, and we were lucky enough to see a cute bunny rabbit hopping through the gardens in the wee hours of the morning. The livestock in the fields sang to us as we took a night time stroll and we felt such peace. Breakfast was a delight for the eyes and well as for our bellies! Imelda offered us a formal menu with several choices, along with tea and coffee, toast, cereals, fruits and yogurt. I am very picky about my eggs and I can promise you that Imelda got my poached eggs perfect! She goes to great lenght to please her guests and you will taste the love in every bite! Since it was my 50th birthday celebration, we asked Imelda if she would entertain the thought of cooking an evening meal for us, and graciously she agreed! We were treated to a 3 course meal in a formal dining room with candle light and my dear husband and I felt like a king and queen! Flemingstown House is the perfect place to stay if you want to take day trips to the south and west of Ireland too. We discovered Ennis, Limerick, Bunratty, Shannon, Adare, Tipperary, Cashel and even drove over to Dingle, and then came back each evening to a little slice of heaven! Do plan to take a weekend, a week, or even one precious night with Imelda at Flemingstown House.....I know it will be a memory you will cherish forever! I have been touched by the love and spirit of Ireland and can honestly say, It is all because of Imelda and all she gives to her guests whom she respects and treats as if they are her own family. I honor this memory of my 50th birthday trip, and hope one day to return and stay once again with Imelda at Flemingstown House!

“Guesthouse like no other!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

At this point we have been travelling eight weeks and B&B'ing nightly.
Our initial plan was to stay only one night. However after experiencing Imelda's warm welcome, caring attitude & home cooking we ended up staying four nights.
The property is in a quite rural setting surrounded by paddocks of green dotted with her black & white bulls. The rooms are beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and the outlook is impressive. Also worth mentioning the bathroom, a proper sized shower with excellent water pressure complete with a showerhead which works.
During our stay we wanted for absolutely nothing. Service was impressive, attending to our every need without being intrusive. From meals to arranging outside activities nothing was beyond this woman. Imelda has developed an ability to anticipate our wishes and act seemingly before we can ask, an ability which surely must be borne from experience.
The breakfast is fantastic, Imelda's own recipe museli and a menu to satisfy the most fussy eater ensured we left the house satisfied. My wife will always remember the afternoon in the kitchen with Imelda baking. There are quite a few local attractions in the area including historic ruins, the cave, horse riding, excellent mountain bike trails.
In short this is the best B&B/Guesthouse we have stayed in throughout England, Scotland & Ireland. Period.

“An outstanding farmhouse experience in Ireland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2010

Flemingstown House is a farmhouse that provides standards of comfort and hospitality that are rarely experienced. Set in fields and removed from the intrusion traffic noise, it looks out ove the Ballyhowra Mountains. Its excellence revolves around the proprietor, Imelda Sheedy-King whose attention to detail is impeccable. Her warmth of welcome creates an amibence of friendly relaxation and her culinary expertise is equally memorable, especially the imaginative variety of breakfast. Rooms are spacious and ensuite - ours had shower rather than bath. Local attractions are limited. Apart from the nearby stone circle and ancient settlement at Lough Gur, other notable sites include Bunratty Castle (25 miles), Blarney (30 miles) and Killarney (50 miles). We have stayed at Flemingstown House three times and certainly will return.

“The Nicest Place in Kilmallock”

Imelda Sheedy King is one of the nicest people we met in Ireland. She was warm and welcoming and a wealth of information on places for us to visit. She made us tea and scones upon arrival and tea again in the evening. Her breakfast was one of the best we had during our trip. Flemingstown House is completely amazing and so beautiful. It has been in her family for generations and is very warm and inviting. We would very much love to come to visit her again one day. :-)
