“A real gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

Small enough to be intimate but large enough to have all mod cons. A special place with very attentive staff and an amazing restaurant - our 2 year had never eaten such tasty (and expensive) filet steak before! If you want something something special and a bit different, near Paris, go here. But for those who find stairs difficult beware - there are steep stairs and no lifts.

“What a memory!”

Spending 8 days in Normandy in 5 different locations, this property was our favorite. Karine has done a wonderful job of creating an oasis retreat in some of the prettiest countryside in the world. Our room had wonderful cross ventilation of two open windows. Not a single bug must exist in this part of the world, because we had no problems whatsoever. We awoke to hear all of the birds chirping. What a delight!

The dining was wonderful. Pre-dinner drinks on the patio looking at the beauty of the Seine River was special.

We used this as a base to visit Giverny and Les Andyles. It worked perfectly for that.
Though it might be hard to find using maps, our GPS knew exactly where it was and got us to the hotel using the most obscure but beautiful country roads imaginable with no problem. We just had to trust it!

“Beautiful setting, fantastic food, gorgeous room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2010

The hotel was a bit tricky to find but its worth the search. The hotel is in a beautiful location and there was a warm welcome when we arrived. On checking in we were informed that we had been upgraded to a room with a jacquzi and terrace - it was a gorgeous room. We were staying with friends and all decided to opt for the set meal - in for a penny, in for a pound and all that - and we were pleased that we did as it was a wonderful experience - absolutely delicious from start to finish. We all agreed that even though it was a bit pricey, it was worth every penny for such a treat.

“A cocoon !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2009

What a lovely place. I have been going to this hotel for almost 10 years and it keeps on getting better. First, its location: literally in the middle of nowhere so ideal for silence and quiet. Then, the hotel itself is incredebly romantic: besides being on a river, the inside of the hotel is very cosy (wood frames, warm colors on the walls, fabulous jacuzzis in the rooms, lovely fire place in the lobby...). The owners are also incredibly nice: always helpfull and keen to make your journey memorable.
Finally, the restaurant: traditionnal normandy food, i.e. not the lightest necessarily but it is tasty and with personality. Try the warm oysters with camembert sauce- it is to die for.
To summarize: a very good value for money place where you can take an excellent time with your loved one while being taking care of by generous hosts.

“Excellent, 5 Star All the Way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2009

Le Moulin de Connelles is old world luxury located beside the Seine and surrounded by some truly picturesque French countryside.
We only had the pleasure of spending 2 days in this beautiful old house. From start to finish this was a 5 star experience. On arrival, we were greeted by the proprietor Karine, who was without doubt, the most helpful and inviting host we have ever encountered in France. This lady was busy greeting all guests on arrival yet she also juggled her duties and managed to serve drinks and nibbles to the guests who were relaxing on the decking overlooking the beautiful river which flows under the house. Again, her effortless warmth when serving guests was as flawless as her welcoming skills.
The house has many facilities including swimming pools, tennis courts, a barbeque area, row boats to sail up and down the river, to name but a few. Most of all it was a haven for relaxation, most guests took to the decking area with their books to unwind. The house is also very close to Giverny, Claude Monet’s home, which is certainly worth a visit.
Our package included breakfast and dinner, both which were delicious. The wine list catered for all budgets and the service was superb. The bedrooms were certainly in keeping with the rest of house, there was no modern touch to them which I was grateful for as it would certainly have taken from the feel of the old world luxury which is created so well throughout the common areas of the hotel. The bathrooms were well equipped with toiletries, the bed was extremely comfortable. The house was blissfully silent at night which was fantastic for getting a good nights sleep!
We genuinely loved this hotel and hope some day to return. It was a bit of effort trying to get there but it was worth the trouble!
