the hotel is located at prime location and also have all the basic amenotoes. The ambience is perfect and gives a soothing effect when you come back after a hard day. Food is ok and the service is good. Reception can be better so that welcome becomes interesting

View is all you get. Basic room service, basic rooms, nothing great in furniture or settings. But dont miss the train restaurant. Its really worth a visit. Very unique and gives excellent feeling of sitting in a train and dining.
Another good thing is you can go for an early morning walk along the lake. Thats something you dont get anywhere !!

The location of the hotel is the biggest advantage has an awesome view of the lake if you get a room facing the lake, the night view is also great. The room itself is kind of outdated and old. I experienced bad power failure and had to manage one whole night without the AC or fan. I also saw a rat in the room, bad experience and would not advice to stay here.

You can try the train restaurant which is at the hotel, its really good.

At first glance this is a very imposing hotel. The main attraction is the restaurant in the form of a railway bogie.
The view from the lake facing rooms are excellent. The hotel lobby is very imposing and attractive.
Now the problems. Being a govt. owned property maintenance is not up to the mark. The terrace adjacent to my room had flaking paint and the bathroom had a few tiles missing. The breakfast buffet spread was good but was almost the same on all the 3 days that I was there at the hotel.
Some of the staff members were very receptive to the needs of the guests while others did not bother to respond properly. The hotel is located on the Shamla hills, which is not exactly in the centre of town so guests do not have a choice but to eat the restaurants at the hotel. Food is also a bit pricey at the hotel.
