“Most Pathetic Stay and Facilities ever... Unbelieveablely poor service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

Our entire Family stayed here for 4 nights and let me say It was an nightmarish experience. It calls itself the heritage but doesnt even come close to what heritage hotels are all about. Please dnt get fooled by the website which is done tastefully but the real thing is a let down. They say its 24* 7 room service but their is nothing they offer after 10pm . A fixed Menu which is the same everyday and quite tasteless , Call it the contiental breakfast but all you get is an egg . Beds are shaky and no check on the insects which enter your rooms .... And when you complain to the staff the response was if you dnt like it you can shift to another hotel we will refund you...

“Amazing Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2010

We went to Himachal Pradesh during our Indian visit this summer. We stayed at Welcvome Heritage Property-Grace Hotel for 7 days. The way to the property was a bit trickey, as the road goes down from the side of the main road. But the property itself is well maintained and clean. Its a heritage property so don't expect star status. It has its own character. It was owned by one of the ex-Chief Justice of India. The property preserves a lot of those memories friom the 1900s onwards.

The best part of the property is its food. Their chef is amazing. Every day they would ask about our choice for dinner and lunch. The preparation was fresh (no pre-cooked masala) and really well made.

The staff was very cooperative. The manager, Mr. Rana is a very helpful person. This is a good property, located in the market area. If you are looking for a far away and quiet place then this is not the place for you. Although, there was no noise issue in the hotel.

“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2009

Even though the hotel was quite comfortable, it disappointed us as a Welcomheritage property - probably our expectation was wrong in the sense that we expected a regular Welcomgroup hotel ! It still rates as one of the better accommodations in Dharamshala and a good value for money.

  • Liked — Compact, comfortable and a decent value for money
  • Disliked — Limited food choice and OK rooms

“The entrance spoils it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2009

We were extremely well looked after at the Hotel Grace, though being the middle of February, low season, we were the only guests. The bedrooms and rooms were very attractively furnished in traditional style, with wonderful mountain views from the balcony. At this time of year the days were sunny but the evenings cold. There was a large courtyard, where you could sit, though this was not in action due to the time of year. The food was very adequate with a small choice.

Unfortunately, the entrance to the hotel is via a dirty small road, which makes you wonder whether to turn back and look elsewhere, but once there we had a very pleasant stay. I think probably, if visiting Dharamsala again, I would stay in McCleod Gunge, particularly if it was in high season.
