Hotel is refurbished village. Our rooms were charming and joined by a little courtyard. Breakfast great and in another atmposhperic area. A 10 minute drive from Petra though so need a car or driver.

Our travel agent raved about this hotel complex before our trip. Our stay there was incredible. It's a 19th century village converted to a hotel...charming stone cottages linked by matching stone walkways...little shops and lots to see. A lovely location with an absolutely superb restaurant and the nicest staff we've encountered in ages. There wasn't a computer for checking our emails...and the young man at the desk suggested we come by when things were quiet later on and he'd let us use the computer behind the front desk. We'd looked forward to seeing Petra for years. Staying at Taybet Zaman made the experience all the more outstanding.

My family (2 adults, kids aged 7 and 10) spent one night at this charming hotel near Petra. There was a snafu upon check-in; our tour company had given them a date in 2012, not 2011. The hotel was quite full, but the receptionist kindly not only found us a room, but upgraded us to a 2 room suite. Luxurious it was not - but we found it to be utterly charming, with (heated) stone floors and stunning views all around the property. The dinner buffet was really great. We are vegetarians and greatly enjoyed the fantastic spread of salads and dips, and especially liked the fresh falafel stand. We had to leave early the next morning, and were sorry to go!

It nowhere falls between category of a 4 star hotel.Very much hyped, its a very old hotel which was built may be 20-30 years back and after that they forgot to put in anything new there or to maintain it ever then. Cleanliness and basic amenities were missing.Furniture was making a cracking sound even you just sit on.Did not feel secure at all the rooms were very far off and its all open.I would advise dont go by name and the feel of a village.there is not even a swimming pool inside hotel nothing actually except one restaurant which is not bigger than your 2 rooms.Any normal hotel will be better than this.
