“Quirky”

Our room cost 30JD and it comes with free breakfasts and dinners for the both of us. The food was excellent with great variety of dishes at dinner, probably the best dinner buffet we had in Jordan. The staff was friendly and helpful.

A few caveats: Dana Tower Hotel has group tours staying almost every night so if you are travelling as a couple or solo, you will be low in the totem pole in the choice of rooms. We got a tiny room with no windows and no heating and ensuite bathroom (water takes about 20min to get warm). Dana Nature Reserve was beautiful (we did a dayhike to Feinan Lodge and back to Dana Village), which definitely made up for the not-so-great room. Watch out for the mosquitoes in the hotel!

PS: The craft center at the visitor center has lots of great local crafts and food. You can also see the local women working on silver jewelry in the workshop.

Located in a Nature Reserve, with great hiking potential and a great view, this hotel gives you great value for money.

“A relaxing budget hotel, in a beautiful place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

We stayed for three nights in the Dana Tower Hotel and would have stayed longer had we had time. The sprawling building has a range of rooms with different views and set ups - we expected to be staying in a dorm but were given the Honeymoon room for the same price! The best feature of the hotel is the rooftop terrace - split over three levels, there is ample space to find a quiet corner with a view over the nature reserve, and curl up with a book, or pick a social spot to share your adventures with fellow guests. The communal meals (dinner, excellent; breakfast so-so) made for a nice social experience too. However, there are no shops in Dana so bring spare cigarettes if you are a smoker. Also, make sure you visit the visitor centre in the Dana Guest House to find out about the reserve and the community regeneration programme that is underway.

“The Friendly Staff will bring you back!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

Clean and moderately priced for the area. A stay in the heart of a village re-emerging from the ruins of the past. With a fabulous view of the Dana Nature Reserve. Visit the local craft center (Helping Nature, Helping People) where silver jewelry, fruit preserves, canvas bags. candles and other items are made. Local herbs are also packaged and sold. Or walk around the town and visit with the friendly locals. You won't be a stranger long! Then come back for a sunset view, a hot supper, tea and a chat with other guests. Be sure to sign the big book commenting about your stay. Be prepared to climb stairs and walk on uneven stones (in the streets as well). Summer is hot with no air conditioning. Fall is nice. Local hikes are available--guided and unguided. A hidden jewel is the springs at the end of the road where you turn off to go to the village. An early morning trip to Rummana Campsite is well worth the trip. On a trip around that campsite, you may see various animals and birds--don't forget to take your camera, plenty of water, follow the trail markers and be quiet to see more animals. Box lunches are available from the hotel.

Room Tip: Many rooms have a private bath--more than any other hotel in town. There are first floor rooms avai...

“Come as a guest, leave as a friend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

Our stay at Dana Tower has produced so many memes for us, but you will have to visit yourself to find your own/ours!

Dana Tower Hotel was a really pleasant surprise - dirt cheap, yet some of the best food we had in Jordan (half board, and hotel packed lunches if you wanted them ~5JD extra), amazingly friendly staff, endless cups of mint tea and rooms full of character. Granted the experience was fairly rustic, but it fitted in well with our trip to rural Jordan.

No negatives (well, bring your mozzie spray...just in case), please go and give Dana Tower your custom! It is truly unique.
