My husband and I go down to Little Rock every Thanksgiving, but this year the sleeping arrangements at our family's houses made it more convenient for us to rent a hotel room. We booked the Super 8 because it was located quite conveniently for us and because it was very cheap (only $160 total for three nights). You get what you pay for.
The Good:
-The front desk staff was really nice and helpful. They let us check in at 8:45am (charged us an extra $10 to do so, which seemed a little sketchy on the part of the management considering there were like three cars in the entire parking lot at the time), but it was still nice of them to allow us to check in early as we had literally been driving all night.
-Many of the hotels in the area have outdoor pools because of the agreeable climate, but this hotel's pool was indoor, so it was a better place to stay in colder months.
-Quiet
-Microwave and mini-fridge in the room
-Cheap cheap cheap
-Make your own waffles in the breakfast area
The Bad:
-Breakfast ends at 9am. I'm a teacher, and even I don't get up and dressed before 9am on a vacation.
-The pool was like bath water, which felt good but also made it feel a little "icky" on the cleanliness factor.
-No hot tub in the pool area
-When we came in, the heater in our room was turned off and it was 55-60 degrees outside. When we turned the heater on, it gave off a burning smell, which it continued to give off for all three days of our stay.
-This hotel is very good about not posting pictures that show its true exterior. Had I known that the doors were all exterior doors, I would have stayed elsewhere. Just seems unsafe to me, but we didn't have any problems.
-Most hotels I've stayed in will come back and clean your room if you leave early enough. We left at 11:30am on the first day, and the "do not disturb" sign had been removed from our door (presumably by the staff). When we came back at 1am, the "do not disturb" sign was back, but the room was not cleaned. The next day we left at 1pm and removed the "do not disturb" sign ourselves. When we returned at 1am, the room was yet again uncleaned.
-The breakfast was mediocre over all. The biscuits are dry and gross. Plus the seating area is very small (not their fault, but still), so I ended up eating my breakfast sitting on the ground outside of my room.
Overall, this was not a bad trip though, mostly because my expectations were pretty low. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay in a pretty good location, try this hotel on for size. Just know what you're paying for before you stop in.
