“Basic Cabin, great stay”

So, Joyce tells you like it is, bring your sheets and pillows for a stay in the "cabin". We stayed across the street from the shop and met some of the greatest people and saw some beautiful diamonds. Got pointers and played horseshoes and ate smores. The other campers on our side of the road were what really made it a good time for our family. Can't wait to go back and maybe find a diamond next time at the park. OH, awesome donut shop in town that gets a 5 star rating also for donuts and hot breakfast sandwiches. Thanks guys for an awesome weekend! See you next time.

“Unique adventure awaits!”

This was a great place to stay. We rented one of the cabins. It was close to the showers, and restrooms. Fairly quiet, close to State Park, absolutely wonderful owner! Joyce answered all my questions as did all of the staff, they were all so friendly! Will definitely return again next year!

Room Tip: Make sure and book in advance.

“Excellent camping and right next to Crater!”

Well, I ended up coming down to Murfreesboro without a reservation. Whoops! Luckily, there were vacancies. Unluckily, it was vacant in the summer because it was 115 degrees all three days of being there. I would suggest waiting until spring, fall, or winter to visit Crater. Joyce, the owner was great! We forgot the tent, as well as all tenting supplies. Luckily, they rent them out. The prices are very reasonable. We didn't know how to set up the tent... but they helped. Okay, they put it up themselves. Excellent experience. They also have places for RVs and cabins to rent if you so choose. The sleep quality wasn't the best, but that can be attributed to our forgetting sleeping bags. It all worked out well, considering how ill-prepared we were! Highly recommended!

We stayed here 4 nights. It is close to the Crater of diamonds State Park.
The management is friendly and the R.V. park has a Country setting.
Wet and Wild looking. Try it, You might like it. Don't judge it by it's looks.

“Great basic place to stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2009

We stayed here for 3 nights - it's literally a stone's throw from the diamond state park which is where we were headed. We stayed in a "cabin" which is honestly just a small room w/a bunk bed and a double. But it was great to sleep in a bed and not on the ground! The small playground was right across from our cabin and fire pit so the kids could play and we could see them and we could also see the bath house. You'll need to bring everything you need to camp - it's truly just the basics - but the people were friendly, the place was clean and we had a great time. Joyce the owner gave our kids little jobs to do around the campsite and then paid them in trinkets from her shop - the kids loved it, it kept them busy, and they came home with some great souvenirs - sharks teeth and fossils and large marbles. There's a pretty pond with HUGE catfish that like to eat small bits of bread. There are several people there who are hard core diamond diggers and camp there for months at a time. VERY NICE people who are really interesting- don't let the muddy clothes scare you! :) We had some great conversations and got to meet several people who had actually found several diamonds. Note to those who are going diamond digging - be prepared to get dirty, tired, and come up empty handed. It truly is hard work and reminds me of the gold rush days. You might want to try the crystal mines. Slightly more expensive but I understand you can actually find crystals!

We ended up buying a bag of dirt with crystals in it from Joyce's shop in town and let the kids sift through that - they got lots of crystals and gems then!

My recommendation if you have small kids is to request a cabin or campsite on the same side as the bath house and playground as the other side requires you to cross a very busy road!

We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.
