“Cozy, Clean Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2007

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Mountain Home for Thanksgiving 2007. We arrived very late (after midnight) but we had no problems at all checking in. Despite other complaints on tripadvisor, we had no issues with accessing the FREE wireless internet. The breakfast was excellent, although due to the holiday there wasn't enough seating. The room was huge, bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was sparkling clean. I think the hotel is maybe 5 years old, but it still looks brand new.

  • Liked — clean, excellent free breakfast, free internet
  • Disliked — our 1st floor room was a little noisy

“Very nice!”

We usually stay at a Hilton - Hampton Inn & Suites are generally our choice for cleanliness & comfort. They are usually priced over local hotels, but we've been able to count on them. We chose this hotel for lack of a Hilton.

We got the suite with a refrigerator & microwave - it was extremely large. At the AAA rate, it was a good deal compared to larger cities like St. Louis and Phoenix.

We were pleasantly surprised. It was everything we look for --clean, comfortable, pleasant staff, free internet, free parking, good breakfast, laundry facility, & a fitness room (small, but adequate). They had an outdoor pool and spa - we didn't use them, but the water looked clean and they had sun most of the day for the sun worshippers.

We stayed on the third (top) floor in a non-smoking room (another review said these were all smoking - not so at this time). Couldn't hear noise from other rooms or the hall.

Another review mentioned poor internet - we didn't have that experience. Not as fast as at home, but nothing that made us want to pull out our hair.

The breakfast featured a couple hot items each day along with their "as advertised" cinnamon rolls (my boyfriend couldn't get enough of them). The cheese blintze and bacon were good - cooked just right for me.

We tried a Holiday Inn Express & Suites in the next town (Hot Springs, AR) we stayed in and were sadly disappointed. We did a review on that one also.

“good value”

We spent one night at this motel. It was much better than I expected from a small town motel. It was very clean and, suprisingly, the room even smelled of fresh laundry when we walked in (unlike the usual stale motel room smell). The room was nicely decorated and was equipped with above average linens. The continental breakfast was also above average.

“Seemed nice at first”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2007

I certainly agree with every other review that the hotel is refreshingly clean, the front desk and housekeeping crews are delightfully friendly. It’s everything what a Holiday Express should be, or a Hampton Inn for that matter (which is being built next door and owned by the same people). But nothing is totally perfect as in the matter of free WIFI. I’m writing this review on WORD first because of the choppy connections. I wish I could be sitting on the couch but can’t because it won’t connect - “limited or no connectivity”. So ok I will sit at the desk by the window and a/c as long as I can connect - but don’t worry it will crap out. Why I can connect to the Sonic across the street I have no clue. I have brought this to the attention of the front desk but their reply was “it’s working fine for me, maybe its because we have a full house”.

Also if you like ground floor rooms, well I wouldn’t suggest it here. Every one who has been above me either wear lead boots, or are really heavy walking people because I can hear every footstep. I did call the front desk and they tried to resolve this for me but it‘s still happening. Someone in town told me the hotel was built in a wooden frame, only the bottom floor was cement. There is no noise between rooms though.

Would I return here? Probably not even though I am a Priority Club member. I never experienced hotel internet problems like this, and since I don’t smoke I would never get the 3rd floor since that is smoking - so there will always be someone on top!!

  • Liked — first floor, clean, comfortable bed, couch, microwave, mini-fridge
  • Disliked — lousy interent connection, non-soundproofed flooring above room

“Excellent, Staff Exceeds Expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2007

The staff goes all out to please their guests. Beautiful lobby and breakfast room. Plenty to eat for breakfast and always snacks and drinks in the lobby. Very clean pool, well maintained. Interior corridors a big plus. Convenient location. Rooms were spotless both days we were here. Housekeeping is to be commended for an outstanding job. My only complaint was the wireless internet service in the rooms, which did not work most of the time we were here, and the computer in the lobby area was always being used by kids who would mess it up to the point where the lobby computer was useless too.

  • Liked — Rooms, breakfast, interior corridors, couteous staff
  • Disliked — Internet service never worked, lobby computer always broken.
