Marari Beach Resort – Alleppey
Overview; fantastic place to stay, exceptional quality of care, service and accommodation. Now the detail.
Care, an odd one to start with but it was important to me on arrival. We had been in Bangalore for a wedding and I had picked up the dreaded bug. Immediately on arrival they staff were concerned about me and asked if I wanted the doctor!! No said I, I would be okay!! After a horrendous night at 9:00 I rang reception and asked for the doctor. He was there in 10 minutes I was examined and on my way to hospital 10 minutes later. The Management organised car and an interpreter to go with us, George, he was brilliant, and without him it would have been very difficult. I won’t bore you with detail but 8 hours later I was on my way back to the resort, still feeling ill but with lots of pills to take, they worked. On returning the staff was very concerned that I had been well looked after, I had. Again the management provided fresh fruit in the room, as much water as I could drink and that was a lot believe me.
Service, I could not fault this, everybody was very friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. This refers to the girls who made up the rooms, the poolside bar and restaurant.
Food, if you like curry well then the buffet is exceptional, they even did western food if you couldn’t cope with anymore curry. The seafood speciality restaurant was to die for, fresh fish, lobster, tiger prawns awesome.
Accommodation, we stayed in one of the bungalow without the plunge pool. It was great. Huge bed, good storage, nice seating area. The bathroom was outside, it’s difficult to describe but don’t be put off it was great.
Pool area, 25metre pool, 3 metres deep at the deep end, rectangular in shape, good for swimmers, nice to sit in the shallow end, the water temperature was at least 33 degrees. Really nice surround with thatched umbrellas to give shade, temperature in direct sunlight was 42 degrees with humidity at 75%. Make sure you take a good sunscreen!!
Beach area, great, sun loungers amongst the coconut palms, there are even hammocks. If you want a drink put up your flag and they come to you. The sea again was very warm, as warm as the pool. The beach shelved very steeply so the surf could be ruff.
Ayurveda centre, my wife had a general massage which she enjoyed, I had one at another location well worth the experience.
Overall, this is the second best holiday centre I have ever stayed in, would I go back most definitely YES.
