“Horrible, horrible hotel!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2011

My family booked this hotel for a Christmas/new year break and only managed to stay there for 24hours before begging our rep to find us somewhere else to stay for the remainder of our two week holiday.
The hotel is situated by a very busy and noisy main road, and the site is divided by this, so you may have to cross the road in you swimming kit to reach the pool/beach if you are unlucky enough to be on the wrong side.
We had two rooms between the four of us. One of the rooms did not lock and had a nasty puddle of water on the floor when we arrived. We then checked the bed by lifting up the mattress and a HUGE cockroach ran out and their was bed bug feces everywhere and nasty stains!...so the four of us all ended up sleeping in the second room that night which was awful!!...especially as my mother was crying all night as it was she who chose the hotel and felt she had ruined our holiday.
We had one meal that evening in the hotel, and despite none of my family being fussy eaters, we found the food barely edible.
Anyway, luckily our rep found us an alternative, Victoria Beach Golf club, which was gorgeous, yet we had to pay a further £1000 to relocated there. But to be honest we would have paid more to get out of the hell hole hotel.
So we did have a great holiday in the end, but after a very traumatic start. Even our rep, from Caribbean Collections, said that the hotel should be taken out of their brochure because it is sooooo horrible!!!! I hope they do so this bad experience does not happen to anyone else!

“Had a wonderful time and will definately return!!!!”

Stayed here for two weeks. I stayed with my grandbaby for two weeks. First off the location was perfect. So close to everything Cabarete has to offer. This hotel is right in the middle of everything. This is a smaller resort that provides great service and the best location if you are wanting to explore Cabarete.

The hotel itself was great. The staff are all so friendly and very helpful. If you need anything at all, just ask and you will receive with a smile.

The room we stayed in faced the beach and was wonderful. Our room was cleaned everyday and everything was replenished. Never needed to ask for anything. Everything in the room worked great and there was always hot water no matter what time of day. The bed was extremely comfortable. Slept like a baby as noise was not an issue here. You receive two water bottles on your first day then you fill those bottles from the water that is available in the big jug down at the bar. I bought one 5 litre jug from the store around the corner to the left our first day there and filled it afterwards from the water at the bar the rest of the time. I had to wash and fill all the baby's bottles with filtered water, otherwise two regular bottles would have been sufficient for two adults.

The food was great. True there was not a huge selection but not an issue as the food that was prepared was very tasty. The chef was amazing and truly made some very tasty dishes. Never had any issues with sickness related to the food here.

The bartenders make delicious drinks and I especially enjoyed the slushy pina coladas.

The beach in front of the hotel was fantastic and there was always loungers available.

I only seen the entertainment the one night and the show we seen was very good.

Overall, we had an amazing holiday here and would absolutely return. As a matter of fact we are planning a return trip next year. I met many other guest who are repeat guests. Some have returned 8 times and have stayed for a month at a time. To me that says it all. Don't be put off by the not so great reviews of this hotel as this hotel has much to offer. If things aren't to your liking just ask and the staff will do their very best to accomodate your needs.

“Pathetic!”

We were there for our honey moon, but every day, we had a problem:

1- The toilet did not work properly for several days, we had foul odors... So I had to go to the public washroom!
2- On a rainy day, our room was flooded ( water came in throught the unsealed window) .
3- in 7 days, we had room cleaning service twice, after almost begging for it, but they didn't change our towels, nor our bedding, even when we specifically asked for it.
4- the phone had no line
5- electricity was going on and off
6- they shut the water down and then turned it back on partially: we had a very weak stream of water
7- the locals had a huge party on the site, with extra loud music until the wee hours. when I asked when will the party stop: they laughed at my face.

I am very dissapointed.

“Average all round hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2005

I have just returned today from a 2-week holiday at this hotel. Overall we have had a very good holiday, and all rate the experience as 7 out of 10, however the hotel has some shortcomings. Listed below are our review of the hotel facilities:

Accommodation:

We found the accommodation to be very acceptable and comfortable and clean. The hotel rooms are large, airy, and all come with air conditioning and a ceiling fan. Alslo supplied is a television with cable tv.

Restaraunts and food:

The restaraunt itself is very clean, large enough to cope with the number of guests staying at the same time as us.

The food is a different issue. This is rated as a 4-star hotel and the standard of food and variety of dishes does not warrant such a high rating. Not to be totally negative, breakfast and lunch were ok with a good selection of dishes. It is the evening meal that lets this hotel down. Whilst we were there they had various theme nights , such as a domincan buffet, a chinese buffet etc. I am afraid to say that the standard of presentation, how the food tasted is sadly lacking, my wife and son even resorted to eating chip butties as some evenings the food was so poor, even though we were here on an all-inclusive basis we sometimes had to have our evening meal elsewhere.

Bar:

The variety of cocktails available at the pool bar was very acceptable, however we found that the bar staff were either lacking in experience or totally indifferent as to how the cocktails should look and taste. If you settled on a cocktail that you liked you were lucky to get two of the same cocktails that looked or tasted the same, even if ordered within 10 minutes of each other

Hotel facilities:

The swimming pools are excellent and are kept very clean, and the jacuzzi at the front of the hotel is particularly good. There are plenty of sunbeds and tables to use around the pools and beach. Also public areas kept clean and tidy.

Staff:
Apart from the bar staff, we found all the waiters, receptionists, cleaners, entertainers, to be very friendly and helpful and sympathetic to our needs.

Beach sellers:

The beach sellers can be persistent but will eventually give up if you ignore them for long enough. We had a good massage from a lady called Ida, and we booked a trip to Paradise Island through Raymond and apart from the long coach journey found the trip to be pleasant, but the lunch was dreadful. A word of warning, you have to reasonably fit and mobile for this trip as you have to climb in and out of badly moored boats, however Paradise Island (more of sandbank really) is very beautiful and the snorkelling is good.

Entertainment

The entertainment provided for the guests in the evening was very poor, null point!!. The shows were very repetitive, the entertainment staff are talented but need some direction to help provide more variety.

Overall our holiday we rate our holiday as 7 out of 10.

“4 resorts in one!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2005

Great value for your money! It was like staying at 4 resorts at once. This resort isn't amazing, but it's the perks that come with it that are awesome. The food was good, service was great, entertainment pretty good. Staff were friendly and talkative, got to know you by name. Your own secluded, private beach is across the road, you always have a lawn chair and you can walk a mile each way without meeting anyone.

A resort shuttle on the hour each day can bring you to Sosua, or the other 3 resorts affiliated with Goleta. The other 2 resorts are in town, very busy beach but nice facilities you can use. The third resort, Tropical Garden Club, was across town. That was a gem. The food was amazing, resort clean and had tons of bungalows amid a maze of paths. I'd also stay there sometime.

Staff arranged a taxi each night to bring clubbers to the local hot spot. Great salsa/hip dop/dance. Get ready to leave around 1am, return at 5am!

Took the snorkeling/island day trip. Guide was incredibly knowledgeable. 20 minute speed boat brings you to a blinding white sandy island and you snorkle around the island for several hours. Also had a great lunch and several banana boat rides.
Other guests took the catamaran trip and said it was amazing. Hours on the catamaran, many drinks on hand and music.
